I watched a Lauren Faust interview a few weeks back, and she mentioned that Strawberry Shortcake was one of the other shows she was considering making a reboot for. I can't remember if she chose one over the other or if Hasbro wanted her on MLP instead, but it's neat to have a sort of glimpse at what that show would sort have looked like, even if Faust herself isn't involved

You know, I wasn’t actually that knowledgeable on the new generation of Strawberry Shortcake, but from the way you described it and the clips you shown of it, it definitely looks like something I’d enjoy, and I’ll definitely give the series a watch sometime. Oh and if you’re looking for other shows that follow a slimmer structure to this and TYT, I’d recommend checking out the Monster High generation 1 web series, Ever After High, or Hello Kitty Super Cute Adventures, all pretty good series that I don’t see talked about much, with maybe an explanation for Monster High but I find the movies over shadow the show in terms of description

I remember I got into this show on Netflix. I was getting bored of G5 and needed something new to watch. This shows up on my recommended and I decide to turn it on. Not just because I like MLP, but also because my mom grew up on the old Strawberry Shortcake shows. And... yeah. This feels like Tell Your Tale, but significantly more entertaining. Even having Izzy Moonbow's current VA, Ana Sani. Side Note: I showed this show to my mom, who grew up with Strawberry Shortcake when she was a girl. It was the weirdest thing hearing her able to call out each character in the main cast before they even said their names. XD

6:27 Honestly i agree This is how tv shows from the 90s and 2000s did it back in the day If you noticed back then kids shows were just a melting pot of different races but it wasnt the focus it was the characters that mattered first It wasnt until the 2010s when tumblr thought gender and race is all that matters and well now we're even more divided and racial focus than ever which oddly enough has caused more racism

When it comes to web series in the Tell Your Tale format, the one im currently obsessed with right now is Hello Kitty Supercute Adventures, sure each episode is 3 minutes unless it’s a 2/3 parter but I like the chemistry between the characters especially Kuromi and My Melody and comforting feeling that I get from FiM

whoooa i used to watch a lot of the 2009 strawberry shortcake through a DVD i had (it may be still somewhere around here at home actually, but anyway) when i was smaller, and one time i got another DVD that had some episodes of the 2003 version, ironically that version attracted me a lot for being something newer, at least it was on my point of view lol. It was so different but i had so little of it to watch, and the dvd was damaged after a certain part too to make it worse so i could only watch like one (or two? i don't remember it right anymore) episodes, then one day i found a good amount of them on youtube, didn't watch all of it i think but it was a really nice experience, thinking about it, it gave me a similar feeling to the one i had when i watched FiM for the first time too, the amazing feeling of not knowing for sure what will happen in a story you're invested in I really have a tendency of getting stuff lots later their times huh, bunch of shows i really liked or like came out before i was born lol

I've been annoying people about this show for over a year now. Basically every time someone criticizes Tell Your Tale saying "you can't tell meaningful stories in the 5-minute format" or "Izzy's VA is bad". I certainly don't share your enthusiasm for TYT though. I also don't share your lack of enthusiasm for the musical episodes. I mean, episodes like Super-Berry, Find Your Voice (Aloma Steele btw) and Let the Good Times Roll are just amazing. And to me, Netflix already has at least two shows that are "Make Your Mark but better": She-Ra and the Princesses of Power and Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts. They just have less slice of life, because like, they have a world to rebuild, and there are actually threatening villains wreaking havoc, so they kind of take things more seriously, unlike the G5 ponies.

I’ve been watching this show for a while. It’s still definitely a kids’ show and short runtime of the episodes does get annoying at times, but the writing is similar to seasons 1-2 of FIM I used to watch the Big Apple City episode from the original Strawberry Shortcake series when I was a kid, so I was actually excited when I first heard about it

Big apple city was and is still my comfort show, I love how short the episodes are but they’re also still impactful. I have binged it so many times 😅 The humor also feels like it’s not forcing me to laugh. I occasionally let out a small cackle. It’s a perfect show for me. I also love the animation and quality compared to other shows :))) I also LOVED the trans representation, which is amazing.

Diamond and Spoon were never heard from again in FIM. Something I am still salty about to this day. Read IDW comics if you want to see the development Diamond should have gotten, including a two issue setup before Crusaders of The Lost Mark that shows Diamond and Spoon working together with the CMC to survive a hiking field trip gone bad. Don't even get me started on my second favorite Peppermint Twist.

Crazy how this Strawberry Shortcake feels like more of a follow up to MLP FiM than the entirety of G5 🍓👏 I think it's due to the animation, pacing, humor, and of course the familiar voice actors!!! It really feels like watching season 1 of FiM again, or Equestria Girls. This is a great show

I think a better character comparison for Raspberry Tart and why she is awesome is Starlight Glimmer, a reformed antagonist that doesn't harp on her past so much, that is becomes their whole character, what a novel concept. Raspberry Tart was Strawberry Shortcake's enemy, now she is Strawberry's friend. Not that a little self reflection is bad, I mean realizing the path she was walking was the same path of the Purple Pieman's. Seeing what he is and being glad you changed.

FINALLY! I’ve been waiting for someone to acknowledge SS:BBC for such a long time now. As a longtime fan of the franchise there is some lingering disappointment on the potential that it could have had if it had stuck more to the previous generations nature theme a little stronger, but as a cartoon enthusiast I really don’t mind! I'm a fan of the 2003 Strawberry Shortcake, myself. I dunno, the animation, the designs, the songs, the it (most of the time) felt like it was just trying to be a good show instead of talking down to kids, it just clicked with me. I've all the DVDs and 3 of the CDs with 2 planned for purchase. Funnily enough, I found it at least 4 years before hearing about MLP G4 and, since I'd liked Strawberry Shortcake, why anyone thought I'd NOT like MLP is a real mystery to me. Haven't really seen much of Berry in the Big City, but it's DEFINITELY better than Berry Bitty Adventures *shudders* . Even a ton of G4's voice cast and the decent number of decent songs couldn't save that nightmare fuel. Sour Grapes going from Pieman's sister to his niece IS a bit weird, though

ive been interested in checking out berry in the big city for a bit now ever since i saw they had a trans episode that i felt like they did stunningly well as someone genderqueer myself this just further cements that for me from the clips ive seen the casting is phenomenal, the animation is a ton of fun to watch, and it isn't so painfully over-the-top how a lot of cartoons have been recently it sorta reminds me of the 2012 lps series which i loved SO much as a kid so theres another reason to check it out lol i also grew up on that one cg series from the early 2010s so i have no doubt the nostalgia is gonna add some extra bonus points, i havent watched sbsc in yearssss
