Another thing you might have forgotten - When Tirek absorbs the magic of ponies, their cutie marks disappear alongside it (could be argued Tirek absorbed the cutie mark magic ALONGSIDE a pony's base magic, but still).

Twilight’s mark didn’t disappear when the Storm King stole her magic. The other princesses’ marks vanished when they shared their powers with Twilight during Tirek’s rampage, but they might’ve just sent everything to Twilight without picking and choosing. And I can definitely see how Opalibe would be greedy enough to want every last scrap of magic, just like Tirek.

Maybe the Sparkle was the friends we made along the way. :) I always had the idea of the cutie marks having their own type of magic, seeing how they been working in G5, but I also really like this perspective I was given thanks to this video that is something psychological between the ponies and it works pretty well from everything that we seen.

​@@adolfodefWow, that's taking a darker turn. That fits just right with my theory about Grogar being the originator of the ponies' magic. I always thought that perhaps the Unicorn, Pegasi, and (when G5 revealed their magic) even the Earth Ponies magic actually came from Grogar. You know, considering the Grogar story and the tale of the Hearth's Warming Eve because, back when FiM was still on the run, it always bothered me how "magical" the Equestrian ponies were compared to other magical creatures, like, for example, the rise of Sun and Moon and the hidden social structure and hierarchy of the ponies. Not to mention, the scope of the magic is big and very powerful, like literal day and night, but the agreement is only between the other pony tribes that they have tension with. So, I always had this theory that perhaps the three pony tribes are separated in the Hearth's Warming Eve story due to Grogar, when he controls all of Equestria and enslaves all of the ponies. Maybe he did a magical experiment on the ponies; maybe the monsters exist due to his magical experiment since he is known in Equestrian Legends as the "Father of Monsters" (having allegedly created dangerous beasts that plagued ancient Equestria); and perhaps all of his magic comes from Discord, like somehow he was able to steal some of Discord's chaotic magic and refine it for himself. That would mean Discord's chaotic magic is the real form of magic in the MLP-FiM universe. In my theory (more of an assumption), he divided the pony into three groups of hierarchy in order to exert his control and power. One group is tasked with providing him food; this is the lowest group of slaves, and they were only provided with a small amount of nature magic that was just enough to grow food for him (this magic is so unnoticeable that you wouldn't notice its existence, but in G5, this nature magic blossomed to an unpredicted level). The second group is tasked with controlling the weather according to his whim; the cloud factory in a fortified cloud might be Grogar's legacy; and the third group is an upper class among the pony society enslaved by Grogar that directly serves him and controls day and night. This greatly explains the three ponies' current social structure. When the Unicorns, under the leadership of Gusty the Great, defeated him, they established a kingdom with a King, inheriting their social status from when under Grogar. Meanwhile, the Pegasi, after the revolution against Grogar, decided to take advantage of the fortified cloud, becoming a military state under a Commander, and the Earth Ponies, with each family becoming an independent farm owner, established an elected government under the leadership of an elected leader called the Chancellor. Maybe even the Alicorns' magic is his creation, like maybe the two sisters, Celestia and Luna, are just a victims of Grogar's magical experiment in order to create a powerful weapon, but Celestia and Luna would only able "awaken" their Alicorn form after the formation of Equestria.

This Skyros thing actually reminds me of a theory from MLP theorist KZbinr, "💗 Wind Striker Brony 💗." Wind Striker Brony had a theory about ancient Alicorn civilization on MYM theory a year ago way before this Skyros was a thing.

i just wanted to say that more evidence for how cutie mark magic and base pony magic is different can be shown when starlight steals that one town's cutie marks. their base pony magic never disappeared but their "sparkle" (the way mlpg5 puts it) did.

09:46 - Starlight cast a kind of anti-talent spell, along with whatever other magic created those equal signs. Almost seems like 2-3 spells bound together: one to remove the cutie mark, one to create the equal sign, and either a 3rd spell to counter the pony’s talents, or another part of the equal sign mark spell.

You should also talk about how it now seems magic is harder for them to do without a cutiemark in G5, yes in G4 it was almost impossible for Sweetiebelle to lift a broom, but she says, it weighs a ton, she said nothing about it being too hard to do magic.

do you think that if (the older?) cutie marks are biological-ish, that maybe the evolutional advantage of a cutie mark is a simple telling other members of a species about the specific member? like when bright eyes and bushy tails tell the health status of squirells? so a "good" cutie mark would signal the ponys around that "hey! this is a healthy and productive member, you shuld hang aroud them cuz they might help you survive" which would than result in a group of ponys helping each other with survival, on the other hand if a pony had a "bad" cutie mark it would work as a literal red flag to others, making the "bad" pony isolated which would result into death and the "bad" cutie mark gene getting out of the main genepool

I see magic as a sort of a battery. Also there are two levels of magic - the cutie mark magic and pony race magic. A pony can only use their race magic if their magic is above certain “level”. This level is reached when the ponies reach a certain age. Only once they surpass that level they are able to use their natural powers (like unicorn powers) and once they find their trigger, their cutie mark magic activates as well. I think the crystals actually harbour just the pony race magic. That means ponies still had some magic but couldnt actively use it

I actually edited the model myself thanks to a friend giving me a proper working rig for me to work with. it’s a model ripped from the maretime bay game that are publicly released, just the rigs on them in blender are really messy. so thanks to a friend fixing one of them up, I was able to use this one. It was originally zipps model but thanks to some body adjustments, texture replacements as well as adding her horn and hair (which was also edited) i made her dreeze

My assumption is that cutie marks are a biological aspect of ponies and therefore ponies still get them without magic but that cutie mark magic no longer exists. In other words, cutie marks can still be gained because of biological necessity but they don’t do anything. There’s no glowing when you use your true talent, there’s no being summoned by the map, there’s no switching or replacing marks-they’re just there.

Why did every pony’s cutie mark sound like a self-realization or realizing a way to help others? Most sounded like they were copies of the element of kindness for some reason except for Zipp and Pip’s which were more about showmanship. I really don’t understand why so many cutey marks were copies of the element of kindness. I didn’t know if Misty, Sunny, or Hitch should have the element of kindness and could barely tell Izzy’s was more creativity. Yes, kindness is good, but I am confused why every cutey mark is interpreted as a result of realizing the need to be kind to others or yourself. Selflessness is good, but I didn’t really get how the likes or talents fit into the cutey mark stories because the stories’ emphasis was so focused on just the act of being kind itself. In g5 how is a cutey mark any more than a result of realizing compassion for the first time?

So what you're saying is, cutie marks are essentially Palismen. It actually makes sense. I mean young ponies het their cutie marks when they connect with their deeper selves (descover what they want to do with their lives, realize what they really like or just that there is more to life than a cutie mark). And from what we see, Palismen bond similarly to young witches. (For those of you who don't know, palismen are magical creatures in the disney show The owl house) Sorry. This is just how I understood it.

I wondered about the difference between coven sigils (the mark a witch gets when they join a coven) and cutie marks. I felt that you had more choice in what sigil you got compared to what cutie mark you got. Since cutie marks are tied to destiny and all.

it’s actually an edited model from the maretime bay adventure game, mixed with some elements from the mane merge games for the hair and tail. I altered the shape of the hair, as well as the body type and made the textures myself on top of the original textures. call it stealing, I call it a recycle. maybe I’ll get a more original looking model soon so then hasbro doesn’t sue me, but I wanted to personally get as close to the show as possible because it excites my autism into thinking she’s really in the show lol
