Sword of the Berserk was the reason I bought a Dreamcast. I was stationed in Japan when the game launched, and got it when the Dreamcast came out in the states. It's still my favorite console of all time. The anime was incredible. The remakes and sequels suck compared to the pathos and reality that was injected into the series. When you go to war, you get hurt and people die. It turns people into animals and animals into monsters. There's a reason why it's still memed by people today that have never even watched it. It's that deep. Thanks for sharing your experiences. I'm sure, wherever he is, he appreciates having fans like you.

I think it's because there is a copyright troll going around claiming all videos that use Guts theme that Gundam used as the background music in the original upload. From what I've seen other people say the person who is making the claims doesn't actually have that musics copyright but it has been causing a fair few videos to be taken down.

First Ken Ishikawa dies and Getter Robo is left unfinished now Kentaro Miura dies and Berserk is left unfinished. Why do the things I love end in such a way. By the way I know the holy land mangaka is going to do the ending, but it just not the same quality as Miura, same way despite Gurren Lagen being a love letter to Getter Robo isn't the same even if Spiral Energy is the same color as Getter Rays.

Ok not even kidding. I just actually finished the 1997 series last night. I was watching it when i was 6 1/2 years old with my brother back in 04 when we were on our way to florida and i just forgot about unitl I just recently finished "Blue Gender" almost 20 years later. Holy shit, what a whirlwind of emotions and just a hell of an experince. I may not have read the manga's or watched the other adaptation's but im kind of heartbroken cause now I dont know what to watch. I'm like literally going "BERSERK" for more, but either way Gundam thanks for uploading this it brings back alot of memories and seems like a nice bit of closure for now. Love ya, Gundam. Rip Kentaro Miura.

This is a great way to honor a master! Im about to publish my own fantasy novel and feature my own illustrations and I cant help but look up to Kentaro Miura as a source of inspiration. From both the story and art, he is most definitely a master of his craft. One does not simply illustrate on that level. That takes years and years of draftsmenship. Same with the story, you dont just create a story that well delevoped without years of dedication. He was born to create Berserk.

Miura Kentaro (三浦 建太郎) is a legend and he will be missed. Berserk is a great series and I think it's disappointing that we still don't have a proper anime that covers the entire series from beginning to end and has the animation that lives up to the quality this series deserves.

It was one of the most saddest day of my life when I heard Kentaro passed away.. I watched the 97 anime first way back in 2008 and ever since then this universe has just stuck with me like no other.. I think one of the things great about Berserk and why it resonates so much is due how unapologetic and raw it is in telling the story. There’s no pandering. The story of good vs bad vs grey and the choice the characters need to make.. it’s almost biblical in a sense

I saw the tv series on VHS fansub during the summer of 2000 right after I graduated high school. That summer was also known as the summer of adventure since legend of mana, chrono cross, and final fantasy 9 were all going to be released around that time. Anyway, I miss miura.

The Dreamcast game is what made me a fan of the Berserk series which at the time I didn't know the entire series was called Berserk. When Devil May Cry came out it reminded me alot of Sword of the Berserk at the time. I wish they would a proper anime remake of the Berserk series along with the games not in the Dynasty Warriors style. I would want another adventure game like the Dreamcast game or close to Dragon's Dogma.

I've been reading Berserk since 2007. I made that exact sculpture in 3D to get a job at a video game studio. His final chapter was beautiful and made ever more bittersweet with his passing. I'm glad they're finishing it but it's like trying to finish Lord of the Rings without Tolkien. Though talking with other Berserk fans feels therapeutic.

Berserk is and always will be the best Manga franchise ever, i really hope to one day see a full Anime series that faithfully sticks to the source material and tells the full story. If DBZ could get so many episodes back when it came out there's no reason Berserk couldn't get that now, it might have been a bit much for people back in the mid to late 90's but now i think there is more of an audience than ever and it could work if they just picked a decent art style and stop cutting up the narrative.
