I started looking for a EK to do a built motor big turbo car. Already built motors are decent price. Parts are reasonable. But now the fkn bodies are mad expensive 🤦‍♂️

P.s. I hope you're doing an AWD conversion. If so, hit up Justin at Hubcity Performance. He's an OG in our area, my dad and I attempted to do a JDM B16a swap in my 1990 EF hatch when I was 15 almost 16 (15 years ago!! Thats nuts to think about lol) and we couldn't get it 100% so we took it to him to finish the swap, he had a showcar level turbo EF in like 2002 or some shit and then a bad ass yellow turbo EK which was also show car status that was like 2007 when he finished my swap. Day 1 of having my license at 16 y.o and I had a beat up looking b16a hatch skunk 2 exhaust going around poppin vtec loud as shit lol first weekend I raced some dude in his mid 30s in a brand new model 350z with his chick in the car and I stayed like a bumper ahead of him to 120 when we let off and he liberally hopped off the cruising spot at the first available exit lol ill never forget that sorry for the long ass comment, in short.. Hubcity Performance's Justin is the guy for AWD Honda set ups, last thing...Justin had an insane AWD turbo k series EK a couple years ago that he raffled off. Made like 8 or 900 HP and ran 8s. Best believe I bought 2 tickets and then one of his buddies won and people were pissed at first because they thought it was rigged but he used a legit random number generator website and filmed it all. Ok im done . Peaceeee

I don't even understand why that's a trend. Sure in a drag car it makes sense but getting carbon piling up on bonnet and windshield on a street car seems just dumb.

@@dohmies77 for the awd cars I get it because there’s no room in the exhaust tunnel for exhaust piping because of the driveshaft, and it does cost quite a bit to have someone fab you up a custom exhaust that’s tight enough not to drag all the way to the back

Making money in the heat can put you on edge especially with a project that has been a handful of issues one after another. It being your first turbo car and someone hounding you about questions on the build and what they should do And all you can do is say I've never turboed a car before and I can't answer that question.

Working on David's cars is always a lot fun, but when you have a ton of work, not a lot of time and cameras filming everything... real life sometimes shows up haha. We had issues with parts that we were sent, some stuff never showed up which left us working super late nights to get it all done. I think David's optimistic views certainly helped the whole project go smoother but in the end, cars can be frustrating especially when they have deadlines to leave. It is the nature of the beast. I don't think u have boost leak. I think your waste gate spring is too weak. 6psi at the gate with 300+hp is normal with low psi spring.. upgrade spring to 12psi or more and youl make way more power and torque with the same psi your currently on. Yes 12psi will be your minimum boost but once u have a controller trust me you'll make crazy power same psi. I made 444hp with 6psi spring.. I upgraded to 16psi spring and I'm at 703hp 551torque ebay cxracing turbo btw. 4yrs no issues. Just had to put that out there lol.

@@BazicStudios I think he meant the other way around... I think. 444 on gate pressure with a 6 psi spring, 703 with a 16 psi spring and a boost controller (and probably more boost). But I'm not 100% sure how all of that works yet... I THINK the 6 psi spring has the gate opening at 6 psi so that you make 6 psi? If someone can inform me... Please do... I beg you.

@@danielnelson4881 With a 6 pound spring, it will take 6 pounds of boost over ambient to force it open. The higher the rating the more boost, the more power. You can add a boost controller to this which limits the amount of vacuum going to the wastegate, and typically doubling the amount of pounds it takes to open the gate. So 6 pounds and a boost controller and you're at roughly 12 pounds.

So, I sincerely LOVE my Hondas, I even have a 709 whp built LSVTEC EJ8 Civic coupe, and I'm about to turbo my 2004 UA6 Acura TL, but one car I have always wanted to get and turbocharge is a 1987 Mercedes 190e Cosworth with the 2.3 16v...I know that it's not RWD, but my mom had a 1987 190e 2.3 NA and it was pretty fast stock...parts were ridiculously expensive, but I think that it would be alot of fun to build.

Love these civics with k swaps! Decent power should be a little rocket. My k24 95 coupe puts a smile on my face every time I get in. If you’re in the market for some slick suspension goodies check out honed developments. Side note for those wondering wheel specs, they look to be 15x7 +20 kosei k1 wheels (bmw e30 fitment).

@@CiscoDA9RS tire rack’s website usually only shows wheels closer to oem specs to try and insure what they sell fits. 1989 bmw 325i will bring up 15x7 +25 with a center bore of 57.1mm. For 90’s civics,integras and delsols, the website will only list 15x7 +38 with a center bore of 56.1. The main difference is the offset, the bmw wheel will stick out 13mm about a half in more. (38mm-15mm=13mm). The bmw wheel is a fairly aggressive fitment on the 90’s Hondas but isn’t hard to make fit, there should be no pulling required. Worst case maybe a slight fender roll but depends on ride height and camber. On one of the cars in our group no modifications were necessary the car was lowered slightly and wasn’t running crazy camber or anything, tire was a 205/50 I believe. Another difference is the hub bore, the bmw is 1mm larger which isn’t a big deal. Do not use a miata spec k1! If I remember correctly the na/nb miata on the site will let you pick between both 15x7 with the +38 and +25 offset but the +25 has a smaller center bore of only 54.1. Thats’s 2mm smaller than the Honda 56.1 so they will not fit. If you’re worried about fitment on the bmw spec. Find out what your wheels you have now are and use a website like wheel-size and plug in the bmw spec and compare them. It will show you the difference between them. Hope this helps

@@CiscoDA9RS never had a da integra and been a while since I’ve been around one. But if believe they have a little less room than a dc, eg, ek. I would say with 15x7 +25 it would fit flush maybe a little poke. Expect to roll fenders and run some camber(2 to 3 degrees). Some people have more tolerance for what is acceptable when it comes to rubbing and what not. Could try a 195 tire to give a little more room. But I’ve never owned a da so fitment is a guess on my part. However a quick google search shows some guys running 15x8+35 with 205 tires which sticks out 3mm (1/8th of an inch more.) so it is possible just might take some work.

@@danielnelson4881 when it blew up in a big ball of fire and split the block clean half in two hahaha, no but really he figured out he had a massive issue with his wastegate and didn't have the variable cam system set up correctly, when he fixed both of those he was building huge boost as low as 3k rpm's and likely making massive low-end torque which the stock rods in these k series just do not handle. They can make tons of top end but roller rockers and a forged crank just means you'll find the next weakest part to bend and that's usually the rods in these.

@@sasha-taylor All good info, thanks for the reply! I've got an 02 RSX Type S, just haven't had the funds yet to push my own K20! Have been busy getting it all dialed in. The whole front end is all new parts basically. Tie rods, ball joints, control arms, CV Axles, wheel bearings, rotors, only one brake caliper is new though lol. Then I had to replace my motor mounts, got some poly bushed innovative mounts there. Now I've gotta finish painting it and getting the body work back to where it was... I lost my front bumper (it's a long story) 🤦‍♂️ so I'm taking this opportunity to repaint the whole car. My buddies dog did a real number on my paint, and the aftermarket front and rear bumpers this kid threw in when I bought my CF hood from him, were from a gold RSX, and mine is Nighthawk Black Pearl. Did you want to know all of this? Likely not. Did your comment warrant all of this as a response? Likely not. Do I care? ...Yes... Please don't judge me. 🥺

@@danielnelson4881 haha I leave long replies all the time dw about it. I've got a buddy with a turbo'd, k24 swapped RSX type s, love those cars! On my miata I'm basically rebuilding the whole car from the ground up. I'm replacing every control arm and knuckle with ones from a shop called Destroy or Die, better geometry, stronger, and big steering angle in the front and dual caliper mounts in the rear. it's a drift car build. Poly bushings on everything. New Flyin Miata sway bars, frame stiffeners, and Wildwood 4 piston caliper kit. hydraulic handbrake, seats, harnesses, competition roll bar, and a million other little things on the chassis. Then I'm swapping a k24a2 into it and building it mildly, naturally aspirated. I think 250-280 wheel still be plenty to make the car super fun at the track. My goal is to do cams/springs/retainers, 50 degree vtec gear, and a type s oil pump so I can rev it to 9k rpm. And I want to run ITB's on it. Most likely gonna run a Nissan CD009 trans and Ford 8.8 diff with a 2 way. In a 2200lb car I think that power level will be perfect, enough to have tons of fun and build my skills while still being able to run dirt cheap tires and keep the costs low. Car's gonna be over built but I want it to just work every time I get in it.

I’ve been searching for a clean eg or ek hatch but everything I’ve seen is rusty or they want almost 10k for it. I know I’m looking for a needle in a hay stack but I can’t justify spending the money guys are asking these days. Super jealous of the car, thing is beautiful.

Radiator pressure test kit. Best thing for finding a leak and then after doing the repair confirming that the system is sealed. With no heat in the car. And no exhaust noise. Just wait for the puddle or watch that needle... Anything appears or you lose pressure then you need to reassess. Sorry just had to throw that in there. After seeing the guy put the lid on the coolant bleed funnel to gain pressure in the system, I just had to say something.

I have a N/A k20a2 swap from a ep3 type r in my em2 coupe, so the oil pump was allready pretty good , but now with a built engine / head , making 288 hp, and revving to 9.300 rpm , i switched to a 4piston racing oil pump (basically a ported / balanced k20a2 pump) , rated at optimum flow until 11K .... It's pretty pricy, but it's a real safeguard for the engine... and gained 4 whp with it 🙂

Once the car was full of coolant, the idle air control valve was set and it cleared up. If you are surging, take the IACV off and clean it, or replace it.

Those hose clamps on the intercooler need to be spun around a little bit. The bolts are sticking down too much
