I feel bad for them both. You can’t control your thoughts. I’m sure if it was the “twin bond” that he’s mistaking for love, his therapist would have told him that. Not to mention, he’s married. He should have felt a difference between partner love and sibling/familial love. The brain is a weird thing. Glad he did what was best for him and moved away. The whole thing is still weird though.

@@elliemae5526 doesn’t have to be. It could have been that he was never in love, like AT ALL, and because of that he could have mistaken it for romantic love, and that shit would have made anyone feel so terrible that they would run away. The bond between blood relatives can be so strong and instant, that many people could confuse it for the wrong type of love. But now, once he met his wife, and once his love for her appeared, I think we can rest assured that it was never him mistaking a way-too strong sibling bond with a way-too strong familial type of love for a romantic type of love. It was a romantic type of love all along. But the s*xual attraction part is something we can only assume. It could have been there, but it also didn’t have to. At this point we are just assuming….

This story is weird, yes, but it’s also so heartbreaking. I truly don’t think he can do much to help if those are the feelings he has. And I think him moving away was probably the right choice. I do not think it was selfish of him to move away, nor do I fault him for not wanting to see his sister again, as awful as it is for everyone involved. Even if he doesn’t have those same level of feelings as he did before moving, I’m sure there’s a level of shame and guilt there regardless. This is heavy.

I'm an identical twin. I have had lots of thoughts that if my sister was a man unrelated to me, she would've been the greatest love of my life. But like you said, it's because of our bond. I know I will never find anyone who will understand me and spoil me like she does. And that's something I know and accept. I love my sister as a sibling. And she is the closest person in my life. So I believe this is the same emotion he feels but also he's confusing it as real love, he needs to have his own life away from her to realize there are other people who can be more than what his sister offers emotionally and as a bond.

I’m going to assume he’s intelligent enough to differentiate between familial love and romantic love. Plus, he sought out therapy to work through it. I think he was trying to spare her feelings by not going into too much detail about his love for her. It sounds like a sexually explicit fantasy that developed into real romantic feelings, which he knew were wrong. Hence the big move and cut off.

This is a sad situation, but isolate things for a second. Forget who the guy in question has feelings for. *This guy felt disturbed about himself, so much so that he went to therapy and moved out of the country.* Put it into another context. What if he had a debilitating obsessions and/or compositions? What if he heard voices that weren't there? What if, in an extreme case, he had fantasies of killing people? We wouldn't question what his feelings really are. We would understand that he knew something was off about himself, was probably scared, and that he wanted help with his mental health. My point is that this guy had a problem that effected his quality of life. When he realized that therapy was not going to work, he moved far enough that his thoughts were not going to bother him or his family. He could live a happy life. They, in theory, could live happy lives. Nobody would be plagued by what was going on in his head and with his feelings. Maybe what he is feeling is a twin bond instead of romance. Maybe he is sexually attracted to his twin sister. We don't know. What we do know is that it was extreme enough for this guy to seek help and move far away to have peace. I hope the whole family gets therapy for this.

"You can love a lot of people but they don't have to reciprocate. It doesn't mean you have to move away" In a normal situation you can create distance without actually having to leave but in this situation it's not really an option. Without moving he would have constant exposure. Especially if the family is as close as she says. The brother did the right thing for himself and his family. The sister probably does need some therapy. That is a lot to get hit with and she's going to need to unpack a lot now that she knows. I understand her reaction but I hope that she eventually comes to terms with not only her brothers confession but also that he did sacrifice everything because he didn't want to put that on her or their family. I feel bad for all parties involved. It's obviously not what anyone wanted.

Okay my advice to this girl is get into therapy to process the hurt, and learn how to just forget about him. He's made it clear that he can't/doesn't want to be in your life and you need to just let him go. If he ever reaches a point where he can be in your life he'll contact you. But basically as hard as it is, you just gotta move on from him. Just forget about him.

Not only are the brain and hormones crazy, but close proximity to her and anything he might have been looking up probably sealed the deal on bad thoughts and hopeless feelings. Glad he sought therapy but I do feel like he still should've reached out in a sibling manner. "Hey sis going through a lot... life's been busy!" Because now she thinks every moment they spent together was clouded with these feelings. He definitely had strong feelings if even as a married adult wirh children he still feels unstable to see her. How many years did this take to make him leave?? I feel bad for both because you cannot control who you feel for and he probably didn't realize how bad it had gotten until it was too late. Aww i feel bad for them both, but i think he has made the right decision not only for himself, but for his parents & twin sister. Though i think his parents shouldn't be losing out on their son & grandchild, maybes now the sister knows he can start having more contact with his parents knowing him & his sister can now work together to make sure they aren't around eachother for long periods of time or any at all whichever works best for them individually. I also don't think his child/ren should be missing out on their paternal side of the family it could cause issues for the child, making them feel like they aren't worthy of their grandparents love, aunties love. So i think something should be planned for their child as they shouldn't be suffering due to a issue they have no control over. I really hope they can come to some sort of arrangement to reconnect as siblings and a family as a whole, it could be an idea to try therapy together there they can get what needs to be said off their chest and hopefully work through it together because nobody should have to go through this alone, as much as it's weird, this happens all the time it's just to much of a taboo subject as normally siblings will hide their feelings due to them thinking they are 'sick' - it's more common in siblings, mother/sons, fathers/daughters who have been apart since birth and when they first see eachother (especially when they don't know they are related) they mistake the sibling/familial connection as been love at first sight, it's happened more than you know. I Find the brother rather admirable for what he's done and i can only applaud him for knowing how to handle the situation somewhat correctly though i think a child should always look to their parents for advice :) i hope this family can reconnect

Because describing it as “being in love” is so ambiguous, I feel like there’s definitely something more going on that he did not disclose to her, like when she says it has changed her perception of their childhood, could there have been some abuses or something else that happened that had lasting effects on him? And why would he also have to distance himself from their parents?

6:26 even if what you guys are saying is true he is going to therapy. His therapist truly knows what he feels. I'm sure she's more than qualified to tell him the same thing. Maybe he's thinking something that isn't really there. Which is why I believe he isn't thinking too much into the subject. Confusing sibling love with romantic love I'm sure doesn't happen. Dropping everything to move away from the person you claim have romantic feelings for isn't easy; for him, his sister, or his parents. He has a whole wife and is still not ready to come home. That means there is something else going on.

They're boy/girl fraternal twins (not identical). 2 totally different eggs and 2 totally different sperm. They may be as similar or as different as any other set of siblings (not born at the same time). Hope this makes sense.

@@morymcfly1222 had a feeling but a lot of people really don't know what makes different types of twins, well different. Something I actually find fascinating... There's actually more than just 2 types. You can have twins born weeks apart or a woman can even conceive even after she's already pregnant (rare). They are still considered twins even though they are gestationally different ages (usually a few weeks apart). Oh and identical twins aren't hereditary because it's an egg that randomly splits but fraternal are hereditary because its a result of hyper ovulation. Sorry. That's a lot. I was told from the time I was a little girl that I'd probably have twins. So I have done a lot of research 🙃 on the subject.

@@cassandrahepp6445 do you mind if I ask why others think you'll have twins? I never knew all of that info about twins! I knew fraternal twins came from 2 different eggs but I never thought further into it like that they're like regular siblings but in the womb at the same time

@@nohely3141 they aren’t like regular siblings tho. They still bond and will have a different bond then any other siblings they have. I have a twin brother and I have other siblings but I am not near as close to my other siblings as I am my twin. When he had is seizure 6 years ago, I woke up at the exact same time his started and had severe stomach pains. It’s a weird bond.

It’s more society has told us we shouldn’t be attracted to relatives because of the medical affects of inbreeding but primitively there was a lot of inbreeding. I’m not saying it’s right I’m saying it not that it’s not natural to have these feelings, it’s more we aren’t allowed to. There is nothing biologically stopping us having those feelings

Like I admit I wanted to sleep with my cousin, because her and I worked so good on a emotional level. But I knew I couldn't tell her or anyone. Well a few didn't judge. Point being yeah is really really rough.... But shouldn't have just quit

I have so many questions! I think it would be good to travel back and see what it happened. Did he see her naked in college and then did intrusive thoughts start? Could he not escape them? Is it just romantic love or is he having sexual feelings and thoughts? Yes does the wife look like the sister? But it’s sad that the grand baby can’t see grandparents. I would love to know more. Sad she deleted post.
