@@jakes.5591 Previously before this I handled budgets for multi-million dollar projects for a drywall construction company.. numbers are my “thing” so to say but I’ll give you a breakdown.. My Truck & Trailer GVWR is 25,900 (Truck 10k + Trailer 15,900), My trucks curb weight with a full tank, including aftermarket wheels, rails, bumper, myself, tools, etc is 8,200lbs (rounding up) + the trailer 5,580lbs trailer weight (Big Tex 28+5) including tools, straps, chains, etc comes to 6k (rounding up) 8,200lbs + 6,000lbs = 14,200lbs. If we take the 25,900 - 14,200 = 11,700lbs for cargo… Like I said before, my load weight is just under 12,000lbs. Hope this helps you.

I definitely get what you’re saying though as far as the payload of the actual trailer, but the name of the game is to get the light loads that pay more, not to max out the limits of the truck & trailer. I think the heaviest I’ve hauled was 6k lbs. I wouldn’t attempt to exceed 9k lbs for my trucks engine & transmission sake.
@davez29893 жыл бұрын
@@ChrisTV1 your truck should be good to about 35k total with no issues. I agree below 6k is great but don't be afraid up to your 12k limit. Also keep in mind. if you get a decent paying loads but you find your self a little heavy... You can pull the Bed, Rear bumper, lighter front bumper, Seats if you don't need them. you can even run 1/2 tank of fuel. I had some loads doing OTR where above 1/2 tank I was over weight so yeah lots of ways to shave weight off.

Yeah seems like i see a these trucks with half loads rolling around where this could haul those same loads just fine. I liked his thinking, going non dually that way he can hall the extra length, also the width of a dually puts you more at risk of rubbing up against something or even the opposite someone rubbing against you. Where i live just above boston there are some tight streets especially in the city. Be ready folks will treat you like shit at the truck stops i heard with this. You know what i might also do? So if there is a way to mount one of those pop up campers to the roof like they do for for overland suvs on an extended non dually. The roof rack would support most and maybe it would extend out and overhand bed just a little but you could have angle bracket from back corners of bed in back of cab coming up and then angling to support back end of pop up so it does not F with bed and hitch area. Then you would not have to sleep in your truck and could look more legit at the stops as you put in the effort. Those fold out campers not that heavy and aerodynamic at the front. Just a thought

Straps, cumalong, ratchet straps, tiedows, tarps,chains and so on! All reduuce from your load capacity. Each item for your load has to be properly strapped or chained down in all directions to prevent moving in any direction! Forward, backwards, and side to side. It ❤straps or chains must. Exc❤eed the weight of item being being hauled exceed limits. 5,000 lb. Item. Strapped or chained from rolling forward or sliding. 10,000 lbs. In each direction for each individual item. It can not exceed the chain or strap limits. If you need 5 chain or 10 straps to equal that 10,000 lb requirement . Then you need to do so by law. You also need to stop and check your load for shifting ❤movement- forward, back wards and side to side at 50 miles and 150 miles in your trip daily each day by law. Tip: your load will work itseld free as going through corners stop and go and going up and down hills or mountains. Plus, other pissed off drivers might loosen your loads straps or binders on you to cause an accident or to force you out of business in a cut throat world. It does happen. Also check your tires, straps, chains, and king pin connection at every rest stop after leaving your vehicle or sleeping or goiing to restroom or launch.😮 ( fines are extreme $10,000.00. Per incident and you can get up to $250,000.00 in one day!😮😮😮😮 Not good for your wallet as a driver. Companies dont care if you are over loaded and get heavily fined.

The problem with the as69 is the aftermarket support. Rebuildable? yes, very troublesome and costly to do so? yes. The 68rfe is one of the better chrysler units for aftermarket support. They can really handle a modified cummins setup better, in a daily tow perspective.. The allison swap is a thing, but its not worth it because the 68rfe can be just as reliable and hold power with ease. Stock for stock, maybe we could agree allison has better reliability than 68rfe, but both with a billet triple disc converter and software, my opinon is 68rfe

The GVWR refers to the maximum loaded weight under which a truck can safely operate as prescribed by the MANUFACTURER, meaning placing weight strictly in the bed of the vehicle. “Towing” capacity will determine how much weight that vehicle can safely pull as prescribed by the MANUFACTURER. Non-cdl < 26K lbs = Truck + trailer + loaded cargo (together) all being under 26,001 lbs if weighed on a certified scale. If Truck + trailer + cargo brings the Total Vehicle Weight to greater than 26,001 lbs then a valid CDL (A) license will be needed to move that vehicle legally on any State or Federal highway.

The tool box in front of trailer: I would clean it up and spray paint it black. See some rust spots repaint so it doesn't rust through. Make that bank.

I have that same trailer. Those ramps bang really loud. I leave a strap on them all the time, it drives me crazy. I saw someone else with the same trailer last week and they had a strap over theirs as well.

I used to have 2015 2500 Mega Cab, I used to get 20-21mpg with factory 18" wheels and tires, then I mounted 20" 10" wide and dropped down to 17. Tires make a big difference. I drive a 2020 F350 now, it is fast as Hell compare to the cummins.

Hey Chris - just discovered your channel - thanks for posting this video up! Some great tips! I too share the same wanting to just be out there with no one but the open road. Now that our kids are grown and out of the house, perhaps this is the time? My wife loves to travel too, so she could accompany me on some of my trips. Maybe... Anywho you have some great content! Cheers, Doc

At 8k on the front axle, you'll blow out front wheel bearings and steering components FAST! You may need to axe that bumper.
@hnmcclain3 жыл бұрын
He's gonna blow front hubs on a RAM anyway... they've been undersized fro 40+ years. I don't haul *anything* as heavy as my man is here, and I'm replacing them every 40K miles or so. Just a design flaw no one wants to address. Probably should lose as much weight as he can (bumpers, steel nerf bars, etc) and swap rear out for duelies. I'd want the added support on that rear end...
@lovepeace15523 жыл бұрын
I had a front bearing failed me after filling up, these weight safety rules don’t play. Luckily for me I was just pulling out of the gas station and was only going 10mph. Now imagine a failure like that at 75mph

But I don't think a couple extra tires and rims will add that much extra weight.
@djbigdavethefyrm3 жыл бұрын
get the same size tire for the spare on your truck. You dont want a blow out on the rear tire and use the stock tire vs your after market tire. It could really mess up the rear end.

1st, will you have your own mc? Are you gonna lease on to someone? When you scale your empty setup be sure to have EVERYTHING you plan to have with you on the road ( straps, chains, all safety gear, tools, tarps) do you have a eld? (Log book) it looks like you'll be able to load about 9,000 lbs on the trailer and note at 8k on the front axle it's over weight! Look at the door decal for axle (gvaw) weight. Look me up on Facebook messenger if you have any questions. I've been doing non-cdl hotshot for 3yrs and know a little bit.

10, 860 lbs might be your overall Max capacity that you can carry... but just be aware that you can also be axle heavy.

The axles on the trailer determine the gross weight. The length doesn't matter. You should also have a wench on the front of the trailer. They are very handy

Nice job young man BUT the only thing to worry about is tractor/truck SWAYING when loaded. If you pushing the trailer capacity, always staying within the 26000 thousand pounds GVWCR, your truck will definitely sway side to side and that’s scary depending of your speed of course. Your best bet is to have the same set up but run a dully instead.
@Rmayrap3 жыл бұрын
Good stuff, new subscriber here. You can have a dually and a 40ft trailer, just need to derate the trailer down to 12k gvwr because truck is 14k gvwr. I have this setup and it works beautifully. Good luck to you.
