technically it is a fighter hence *F* 117 even though its used like a bomber. this was for several reasons such as keeping the project hidden from other countries and because its classified as a fighter it wouldn't be counted as a bomber since the treaty between US and Russia during the cold war forbade the US from having a certain amount of bombers. the only way to legally classify an aircraft as a fighter is for it to get an air to air kill. the US was somehow able to bomb a helicopter with a F-117 as it had just got off the ground.

use it as CAS at the start. Sure most folks with the cashola won't be doing that and will just burn it straight into air RB but with the smart bombs, it is meant to CAS for Ground RB. Then you get the mods to go and do some damage in Air RB. The ability to just sit at altitude, laser a tank and just guide 500lbs right into the cupola, all while being invisible to radar is incredible

The f117 is in such a weird place. It’s too high for its payload to actually do anything and too low for the stealth to actually affect the game due to everything having weak radar anyway at its br

For good results (usually) I fly my F-117 at 17,000ft, 18,000ft is when con trails start. Lock a target that ISN'T ALREADY SURRONDED BY FRIENDLYS, Keep bomb bay CLOSED until seconds before your drop. OPEN, DROP, CLOSE, GTFO!

Irl it was nothing crazy, sure it had stealth but it's first generation stealth, also f117 had to be escorted by actual air superiority jets in order to survive in strike missions over iraq

It could not carry much because they had to be carried internally, and the plane had to remain small. But they were used to strike critical targets deep into enemy territory and/or areas too dangerous for other normal bombers or fighter-bombers.
