Hi Matthias - quick question... you mentioned you have your drone with you in Egypt. How do you get this back out of Egypt as they are so hot on checking everything at the airport and I’ve always been under the impression drones are a big no no?
@MatthiasLebo5 жыл бұрын
Black Manta Photography thanks for your comment. Well yes, drones are a big no-go in Egypt. I just took the risk, since a friend of mine who has been living there for many years said, that they are not searching for drones anymore in your luggage but if they happen to come across one as you enter the country, they will take it of you but you’ll get it back as you leave the country again. I had the smallest drone I possess with me, the Mavic Air and had batteries, remote control and drone separated during the travel. I also kept the drone in the pocket of my jacket, which they didn’t want to scan during immigration. So yes, it still isn’t allowed to bring drones to Egypt, but it definitely is possible without to much trouble. But if you bring one make sure to be really careful when flying it, check with the resort you’re staying at when and where the safest places are to fly it. When in doubt, don’t fly it. Hope this helps... Best Matthias

@@MatthiasLebo thanks for the reply. I travel with my drone on all my travels, but always leave it at home when visiting Egypt, but will see if I'm brave enough on my next trip! Great video by the way - I've watched a few of your GH5 videos as I've just upgraded to the GH% with Nauticam. It's getting its first outing next week on a trip to Guadalupe! Very excited!

Yeah, I hear you. Sometimes you have to take a little risk to get the footage you want. 😉 Awesome man...hope you have a fantastic trip in Guadalupe and I would love to see some of the footage you take there. Are you going to dive with Great Whites?

@@MatthiasLebo Most certainly are - we have 3 days in a cage for the GWS. Will fire you some links when I've pulled stuff together. We're writing a small article for a publication so will share their edits. Fingers crossed I've mastered the GH5 by then!

Thank you for providing great info about the rig and your set up. I do have a question for you. I just received my NA-GH5 housing. I've been shooting with the GH3 & 4 for more the 6 years. I am used to being able to use the lever on the housing to disable the onboard strobe, when I want to shoot an ambient light photo. But the GH5 does not have the onboard strobe and requires a flash trigger. How do I override the (always on) flash trigger now, when I want to shoot an ambient light photo? Thank you in advance for your advice. Cheers~

Hey Scott, Thanks for your feedback and the question. Since I do not really take photos with my rig I don't know the answer to your question by heart. But I'll check with my camera store and will get back to you ASAP. Thanks for your patience. Cheers Matthias

@@MatthiasLebo I have been in communications with the store where I bought the housing. I understand that having the flash trigger that does not allow for TTL (only manual strobe firing), the shutter speed is not an issue now. The full range of SS is available. However, if I want to shoot an ambient light photo, do I need to turn the strobes off before shooting? That is where I have landed, and what I am trying to resolve now. Thank you Matthias! I appreciate your assistance! Cheers~

Hi Matthias..your Nauticam GH5S setup is very nice. Question if you don't mind. i bought a GH5S recently and the body makes a rattling noise if shaken as if something is loose inside. I've seen others online saying it's IBIS but the S model does not have that. Does yours make the same noise? Just concerned in case I received a defective product. Btw, I really like the colors produced by these cameras.
@MatthiasLebo2 жыл бұрын
You're right the GH5S should not be making a rattling sound, since it doesn't have IBIS and the sensor is firmly fixed inside the camera, unlike on the original GH5, where you do hear a rattling. Have you had any issues with the camera so far? I would contact the dealer, where you bought the camera and see what they say. Good luck buddy.

@@MatthiasLebo No issues so far. I'm thinking it's normal (if they removed the IBIS, they probably left the mechanism that holds that in place, and something slightly moves). No biggie, i have an older Canon DSLR that does the same, noise coming from the flash bracket). I'll check with the place I bought it from but I doubt they'll have an idea. Thx!

The GH5s does not have built-in image stabilization. Does it matter underwater? Thanks
@MatthiasLebo5 жыл бұрын
Andre N correct, the GH5S itself has no stabilization. But the lens I use (Leica 12-60mm) is stabilized and this in combination with added stabilization in post is work well for me. But it all depends on how well your rig is balanced and how steady you can keep it while filming. There is always also the possibility to film in 60fps and slow the footage down in post to make it more stable looking. So to answer your question, yes you can see a difference between using the GH5 and the GH5S, but unless you’re struggling with your buoyancy and therefor with keeping your camera rig fairly steady while filming, you should be fine either way.

How can you fit a Canon 100mm lens with a Canon EF connection to a 4/3 connection on the Panasonic GH5s camera?

Yeah, pretty well. Even autofocus works quite well. Not as good as natively on a Canon camera, but it’s absolutely usable.
