She doesn't hate you. Animals cannot feel hatred❤ If you need to cut the nails a little on these animals. So teach her that you touch her toes and nails without cutting them, so that she is comfortable and not afraid. I would be scared if a big giant took me out to cut my nails without me being safe first.

We must’ve gotten really lucky with our uromastyx, she was already a year old when we got her and she’s just the most loving lizard ever. she can’t stand not being around us she loves being handled and chin scratched and she’s just a spoiled ol girl

I totally get it! My uromastyx hates me too, exhibits basically the same behaviors. He runs when I show up and wiggles at me. He also likes to get back at me by smearing poo all over his basking rock. I love him but damn haha

good point about house location. i wonder? our baby mali will often hide for 4-5+ days at a time, maybe 2-3 days a week he'll be active. his cage is kinda right in the of the living room. idk, cuz when he's active he's pretty friendly and interactive for a uro. when he's up he actually likes a little bit of attention, i just worry when he hides for a week and doesn't eat much. good thing to think about. thanks!

I have a MFF trio of uromastyx in an 8'x2'x'2'; after having them for a few years now, I feel like they really crave change. Once they've settled in to their enclosure they get bored and want to explore / see new scenery, with lots of glass dancing. Giving them a complete enclosure revamp on placement of hides, sticks, plants, etc. Seems to make them happy again for another year or so before they get bored again. That said, personality definitely comes into play as well. Just about every time I open the enclosure, the male takes off immediately and hides from me, one of the females will do the same about half the time, and lastly the smallest female has zero fear and will always hang out with me while i spot clean and feed them.

I'm in Scotland, UK and I was hoping to get an ornate uromastyx in a few months but the only spot I could put it is in my living room. I live alone with my dog and 2 Persian cats who spend most of their time sleeping. Would it be a mistake to keep it there? Will the noise from the TV upset it?

There's already a chahoua in the living room and the only space left for the uromastyx in the living room. Our houses are very small. It'll be the final addition to the family but I want it to be happy 😊
