I'm so glad you liked the pie, although I now live in the USA I am from England so pumpkin pie was new to me also. I forgot to give you this tip, if you have a pie that has a wet filling you can spread cream cheese on the inside, of the blind baked crust, before pouring in the filling, this keeps the crust from getting too soft and wet. . Before my husband died we lived on a farm and restored an old house and built two very large barns so I can relate to what you are doing. You are such a lovely couple and family, I wish you the very best

You can also remove the seeds and remove the innards/soft meat around the seeds put them to dry and then you can replant them you can also soak the seeds in salt water and place them in the oven for about 30 minutes or until the shell is toasted let them cool and you have pumpkin seeds just pop them in your mouth and crack them open remove the shell and eat the seed inside. There very good as a snack. Look up pumpkin seeds just like sunflower seeds something can be done to them. Your pumpkin pie sure looks very tasty. Enjoy. You can also bake your pies and let them cool then freeze them when you want to eat just let it thaw out.

I've heard there is some confusion in terms from other parts of the world. But usually in the U.S. sweetened condensed milk that is called for in pumpkin pie recipes is an extremely sweet condensed milk. In some places what is called condensed milk is what we would called evaporated milk, which is just boiled down thickened milk with no sweetening. These both typically come in cans. In pumpkin pie recipes this sweetenened condensed milk usually acounts for all of the sugar for the dessert. Not that this is healthy for you. Less sugar is always better 😉. But just throwing that out into the air if there was any confusion. My test for a good pumpkin pie is when you can hold it in your hand to eat it. Yours looked very good and the color was excellent 👌
@StephenMortimer3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the info .. I had my suspicions about that stuff... also it was not pie pumpkin she used
@TgWags693 жыл бұрын
@@StephenMortimer I went back and looked at her package. I don't read German but I believe sucre would be sugar or sweet, also it was from nesle so I imagine it would be equivalent for sweetened condensed milk. We never got hung up on what type of pumpkin we used. My mother made them out of any type of summer squash including over ripe zucchini which was my favorite. I really like the deep orange color of the one she used and it looked like the texture turned out well too.
@stevejohnson16853 жыл бұрын
@@StephenMortimer Most of the "pumpkin" you get in the U.S. is actually Hubbard Squash (dark green skin, very deep orangey-red flesh). We really like a pumpkin called "Tan Cheese" that is half the size or less than the ones Marina is using, but keep in mind that she's growing them on top of a pile of 100+ years of chicken and pig manure, which squash (of any sort) really thrive on. Both Hubbard and Tan Cheese have really fine, non-stringy fibers. I still pressure-cook the pumpin, then run it through the blender, to make it as smooth as possible.

Not sure what spices are in your recipe, but THE best is "pumpkin pie spice". In case you don't have this available, here's an explanation. Pumpkin pie spice, also known as pumpkin spice, is an American spice mix commonly used as an ingredient in pumpkin pie. Pumpkin pie spice is similar to the British and Commonwealth mixed spice. For one pie, it is generally a blend of: 1 tsp ground cinnamon 1/4 tsp nutmeg 1/4 tsp ginger 1/8 tsp cloves 1/8 tsp allspice (some include, some don't; I would if it's available) Makes ~ 2 tsp of mix, perfect for one pie. Make a large batch, using these ratios, and store it in a glass jar for the next pies!🥧 😉 Use pumpkin pie spice to flavor your favorite fall pies, muffins, cookies, and cakes. You can also use it to spice up your whipped cream, yogurt, lattes, oatmeal, or roasted fall veggies. It is a great spice to have on hand during the chilly fall months.
@oxwoman83 жыл бұрын
Every American subscribed to y'alls channel were holding our collective breath that you wouldn't like pumpkin pie. It is delicious, isn't it? I've never seen it made with sweetened condensed milk. My mother's recipe (actually my grandmother's recipe) uses evaporated milk and sugar, so it's more of a custard. She also roasts the cultivar "Early Sweet Sugar Pie" pumpkins which are darling and tiny, about 6 - 7 pounds. But every family has their own favorite recipe. I'm in the Southern USA and sweet potato pie is a big thing around these parts. Oh, and the pecan pies!!!! Thanksgiving Day is the best holiday for sweets if you ask me! Cheers from North Carolina

That variety of pumpkin looks like such a lovely color of orange! 🎃🥧 Now you got pumpkin pies down, you can do many other things! (muffins, breads, pancakes, crepes, waffles, soup/stew, cookies, smoothies, ice cream, etc.). My husband hates cake but loves pumpkin pies so I make that for his birthday every year. If you are good at canning, this would be a perfect way to help preserve some pumpkin puree to make pies throughout the year. In the United States, people also make sweet potato pie which that also looks very similar in color. My baking secret is to use cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and clove and I keep a portion of it as a spice mix to add to my coffees and oatmeal throughout the year. The mix is as follows: 4 teaspoon ground cinnamon 2 teaspoon ground ginger 1 teaspoon ground cloves 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg So pretty much 4:2:1:½ and I keep it in an airtight container in a cool, dark place so it stays fresh longer but I keep an eye on it since my husband loves to use it throughout the year.
