I have A soft spot for watches from the 60,s/70's because I was there?my first watch was a 1967 Breitling Navitimer Cosmanaute! But now I try to collect Real American made watches from the 30's. 40's 50's and 60's

I like the first box. Much better quality as you know. I do like the bermi, though
@IMakeWatches2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your comment! I totally agree about liking the fist box better, however, I think that just shows that we both love 1960s mechanical watches (as I'm sure many others do as well).The second box probably has more auction value (because of the Panerai), utility (Jungans, Tissot), and arguably quality (the Panerai, Seiko, Sellita (CW), and ETA (Catorex) mechanical movements are all quite good). That said, until I thought about your comment I absolutely thought of box 1 as the collection and box 2 as novelties that I picked up along the way, particularly of course the electronic watches, despite their utility.

I loved the first box, but the stories in this box are even better! A Luminor in a Brazilian flea market? What?! We need to know more about that one! Incredible find. The boxes themselves look pretty nice as well. Amazon? Or something more custom?
@IMakeWatches2 жыл бұрын
Thanks. Yes, the Luminor has a funny origin story. I actually told HB the full story in our conversation but I realized I was talking too much in the edit and cut it out. I'll talk about it again when I do the detailed video about that watch. The best part is I threw away the box and docs for it after keeping it for about 15 years. That's how much I knew about collecting and Panerai! And those are fancy boxes! About the collection cases, they were on ricardo. I'll put a link in the next comment if they're still on there....
@@IMakeWatches Oh perfect, thank you! Because of your videos, I will occasionally just browse ricardo now, and made an account too. Do you speak French/German fluently? I been using Translate feature on Chrome just to be able to use the site. Very few ads make mention of shipping internationally, and the payment method is usually bank transfer and not PayPal etc. If there was something on there I was desperate to have, I'd message the seller and see what they say, just hasn't happened yet. 😀
@IMakeWatches2 жыл бұрын
@@awdturbopowah773 That's great. Did ricardo send a letter to you verify your address and then receive that back and confirm that you have a valid account with your foreign address? I'm curious because a number of people have asked me about that. Regarding language, I am not fluent in German or French or "watch". I use google to pre-translate search terms into both languages and search all three individually (as english is used as well in the listings). This is important. If you don't try all three languages you can miss some of what would otherwise result from any given search term. It's not easy with the tools because they use a bunch of different words for the tools, the majority of which I don't even know the words for in English, so it's also important to do broad searches and then try to learn the words they use and then search again. Lots of fun!
@awdturbopowah7732 жыл бұрын
@@IMakeWatches Haha, alright, glad to know you're just using Google Translate too. On the registration thing, I checked now, and all I could find was a single confirm email address message, like you get from most sites, and that was it. Heh, that does sound fun about searching for the tools -- at least to a weirdo like me 😆. The costs and issues with importing watches into the US also make me stay away from doing it. You're so freakin' lucky to be in Switzerland lol.

Love the Davis LED. Where can these be found to buy? Or would you sell yours?
@IMakeWatches2 ай бұрын
Thanks! I don't think that Davis exists any more so unfortunately you just have to search the usual places for vintage watches. Searching LED watches always turns up interesting stuff anyway, so maybe you'll find something even better!

I like the variety here, like me you seem to collect/buy a watch as in that moment it just had something special and different about it,, i really like that BERMI transparent watch,,the dial has so many facets of colour shimmering thru, [ is it possible you may sell it ?, kind regards, Dan.
@IMakeWatchesАй бұрын
Hi Dan, the Bermi is funny because a lot of people have responded to its unique design but it's not a very high quality watch. If you search for them you can probably find one just like it or a similar design with the transparency. I currently don't sell watches but I may sell some in the future as I do tend to over-collect around certain themes. I will keep an eye out for others like this. I'll also do a deeper review of the Bermi at some point as I'm interested in its movement.

Hello! I would like to ask for your opinion on the quality of Junghans watches. I'm planning to buy the Max Bill Mega Solar model, and there isn't a lot of information about their quality available. Have you had a chance to handle or repair them?
@IMakeWatches Жыл бұрын
I haven't taken one apart but it's expensive and it will be worthless in a few years because it's electronic. I don't have anything against Junghans but anything that connects to an app won't hold its value. I do like the look of it but I would get the mechanical automatic version.

Yeah, you're right! The Germans were still making designs that looked like they were from the 1970s in the 2000s, especially the awful metal bracelet! 😂😂😂 Mine is from 2009. I did a more in depth video about it here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/foGZoId_g9pqqcU

@@ElderPinto254 Thanks so much! I recommend starting with my least watched videos not my most watched. That will give you the best idea of who I really am. I didn't like doing these collection videos so much. They were just done to feed KZbin what it seemed to want. I prefer experimentation, breaking things and joking around! 😂
