The point of Íslendingabók (the app/website in question) is not primarily to see if you can sleep with some, it is just for fun to see if you are related to someone. People like for example to see if they are related to their coworkers and if so jokingly call each other cousin for example. Tough it is useful if you start seeing someone, it would be a shame to fall in love with your second cousin.

Source 2 never ceases to amaze me. It's not like they are using any unheard of new leading technology, just the same knowledge of always but with better materials and prerendered lighting. 4:53 this “multi-layered parallax effect” is actually called shell texturing, and it’s a cheap, yet effective way to render grass/moss/fur, as long as you the camera generally won’t be angled in such a way as to see the gaps in the shells.
@1armgodАй бұрын
it's actually not, this is parallax occlusion mapping, shell texturing is the old way of doing it.
@creopicturesАй бұрын
@@1armgod The carpet and the moss are definitely shell texturing. You can clearly see the individual layers at extreme oblique angles, especially when only using a few layers, like they do here. With POM you usually just get a lot of incorrect looking stretching. I've worked with both techniques.
@Verchiel_Ай бұрын
most times i've noticed shell texturing it's used in things like fur, which i genuinely find obnoxious to look at. It gives off the same vibes as noisy ray tracing. Siff being the obvious example. it ends up looking less like fur and more like well, a visual bug.

Because it’s so outdated, people don’t care about the Source engine anymore. However, going back to the period from 2004 to 2010, the Source engine was a formidable force against Unreal at the time. I remember that in polls for the best game engines of all time during that period, Source always ranked number one. So, it’s not that people don’t value the Source engine-it’s simply because it’s too old, and Valve hasn’t cared enough to upgrade it. As a result, Source gradually fell into obscurity, while Unreal continued to evolve.
@PurpialАй бұрын
This makes me want to get into creating maps in source 2. I feel like the focus today is what's new in unreal or unity but source just has a different feeling about it. I don't think its the engine but the artists. This map felt like fine art to me, it was beautiful.
