There are two more common issues with cooling system in p1 platform and T5 engine- cracking reservoir tank and plastic T-junction in upper radiator hose. Both can toast Your engine.

I can’t stress enough how valuable a generic OBD Bluetooth scanner is for these model cars, the water temp light will not warn you until it is too late - having the dashcommand app allows you to view the temp in real time - $10 investment can save your engine this summer!

If you want that engine to not 'GO BOOM" you better replace both serpentine belts and tensioners!! That's gotta be the #1 killer of these Volvo's!
@nickclark60015 жыл бұрын
Not on the C30 , it has a completely different Aux belt layout( 2 belts and 2 tensioners ) to the big cars , I have never known one fail ...
@onebad4cyl5 жыл бұрын
@@nickclark6001 I own a used car dealership that specializes in Volvo's. I have bought at least 15 T5 Volvo's with serpentine belt/tensioners failures. One 2012 s60 I had was purchased with valve damage from the AUX belt failure, I repaired the head but didn't replace the belt tensioner...it shredded the belt within 1mile and ruined the new head. If you have a T5 you better check your belts for signs of damage or I might be buying your car at auction!

Chad: I used to work on Volvo’s (then BMW-then law school. What have I done? Anyway....) that sensor IS an issue and should’ve been replaced with the thermostat housing. The sensor tells Ecm temp in Celsius. You are right that failure is FAST. Watch ur needle folks! And I may have to meet y’all at the Dragon. Maybe we’ll get to fish bikers out of the tree tops. I’m serious.

Why haven't you got a cold air engine intake like Volvo had it ? The engine is drawing in very hot air from the AC radiator, Coolant radiator and intercooler heat. Not good for performance especially in the hot summer when intake air temp could be around 90C++

Volvos are odd creatures. Basically whenever you fix something deep in the engine bay, you might as well replace everything on the way there. I call it Staged Repairs. Be careful for heater hoses. They're pretty bad on the P2 chassis cars and XC90s.

You guys have been watching too much of Tavarish's videos, judging by the title. I wonder about the logic behind your new air intake too, as it is now you will now draw in HOT air from inside the engine bay instead of cold air from the outside like the stock airbox actually did. Not the best idea for performance.
@mattk3445 Жыл бұрын
With the elevate performance air intake and the intake turbo pipe you actually get some worthy performance gains to the wheel... If its hot out youre gonna be pulling hot air for the most part regardless... If it's cold, you'll still probably be pulling hotter air but it's not an issue with this setup. The data logs on their website prove this AND a lot of people are actually getting more performance than what Elevate advertises. Do some research before you assume all stock airboxes are better than any aftermarket part out there. - Oil change times are cut down by 80% since you no longer have to remove your factory air box to access the oil filter. - It makes your engine bay look a zillion times better. - Increased horsepower. -B onus: If yours has a factory blowoff valve you get that aggressive woosh as it echoes through the wide open intake piping.
@MeefMoaf Жыл бұрын
You don’t need to remove the entire air box to access the oil filter, just the snorkel More power is debatable, it’s been shown that the stock air box is superior to any aftermarket intake, it’s even good enough for a K16 turbo from the focus RS. I also wouldn’t trust numbers given from the people with everything to gain by telling you “number go up”.
