My W140 Mirror Wiring Could've Burned the Car Down! Replacing the Mirror, What's Next

Just because the W140 Mercedes S-Class got an upgraded engine wiring harness for 1996 doesn't mean the other wiring is much better! The previous owner of my #w140 said he adjusted the passenger door mirror and "it went up in smoke," then everything stopped working. I knew the mirror wiring insulation could crumble but mine was... bad. Very bad. I replace the mirror on my #sclass and take stock of what else needs repairs.
