I agree with 90% of your list Sam my only complaint is Penn State I do agree with Jim Knowles hire that he was a fantastic defensive coordinator for my buckeyes 🌰. My complaint is though defense was never their problem like you said it’s James Franklin and their wide receivers and quarterback play that cost them so unless they fix their wide receivers, think they’re gonna be a successful as you predict.

I really think Nebraska has the talent to be a top 15 team, you just can’t trust them to do it though. They have to prove they can win before anyone can predict it (this is coming from a Nebraska fan).

It’s going to be hard to replace defensive production while implementing a new staff. Ty and Nash weren’t a generational duo, but they were a once-every-decade pair. I don’t know how much Butler plans to deviate from White’s scheme, but even across similar systems how it’s ran, day to day implementation of that system are usually wildly different between coaches. I’d agree with you if we had kept White and his d line coach we’d have a hell of a chance to be really good…but turnover in players and coaching makes me think Sam’s got it pretty close to right with this. #23-#28 is about where we belong.

To be clear, I want to believe, I really do. And I think our offensive woes are about to finally be shrugged off. But we will be entering another season with a different offensive and defensive coordinator than we started the season with last year. (even though I know Dana had 4 games to do his thing) 8/9 wins is our line next year imo, which means getting better, but not quite there

I might agree with you just because psu hasn't done it since '16. But its hard to deny that osu has a lot of question marks since they don't return very many starters. Meanwhile psu returns almost all of their starters. Coordinators sometimes take a couple of years to reach their stride. Psu will have a second year of kotelnicki with allar, singleton, and allen (not to mention 4 of their 5 starters on oline). I think psu's (maybe country's best run game) can cut up an entirely new defensive front from osu. I really dont think you can be so sure about this

And don't forget, allar, reynolds, nucci, shelton, birchmeier, jven williams, cousins, singleton and allen were all former high four star and five star recruits. So I'd say the talent is maybe equal if not better than osu's defensive front

Sam it takes 3 years to implement Knowles system. PSU plays Oregon and OSU next year, and Franklin is still their coach. PSU is not winning a Natty IMO

I respect that opinion. Knowles system is complex, but I also want to say that this is the best situation he has walked into in his career. He took over defenses outside of the Top 50 with OKST and OSU, but he is taking over a Top 10 unit in PSU that might have Top 5 defensive talent.

Michigan should go into the Ohio State game undefeated hosting an undefeated OSU team. And in the BIG not certain who has the toughest road Rutgers or Wisconsin. Ouch. Then how did Michigan dodge Penn State once again. Have to disagree about Indiana. Illinois, Iowa, Oregon, Wisconsin, Penn St. Just don't see the Hoosiers being there in 2025.

I want to immediately say this is a terrible list because Penn st was never bad on defense, just have 0 receivers. You always have a blind spot for Michigan and I don’t trust inexperienced QBs in this era. Notre dame also absolutely has more question marks than OSU. So actually yeah this list is kind of bonkers to say the least

ND was already missing 3 of their starting D linemen after Indiana, so the D line won’t drop off to much and would have time to improve. They got transfers in at DT and the DEs that were injured since week 3 will return. O line will be a massive strength of ND next year and will have lots of depth. They will not struggle in the trenches unless injury hits them hard again next year. As for running back I don’t know what you are saying or where you heard that. Love and Price return and Williams had production as a freshman.

It took two years for knowels to revamp Ohio State's defense. Penn State isn't going to be number one overnight If they ever make it at all which I doubt.

Knowles wasn't walking into an already top 10 defense when he first arrived in Columbus. I believe the osu defense ranked in the 50s the year before in 2021
