I do bookkeeping for a healthcare business that has 18 group homes. I get audited twice per year. They select a few of our homes and the main office to audit. It can be full-scope or limited-scope. I never know which it will be. It's a stressful time for me because I have to pull every paper receipt, scan, and email to the auditors.

I would recommend that all teacher reimbursements request online reimbursement forms with receipts before paying the teacher.

Question out of curiosity… I was a bit surprised to see that you just had a box of paperwork. I would have anticipated needing a more secure location (at least, that’s one of the things I’m trying to work through for my future business). Are there recommendations for what needs to be more secure? Do you have systems in place for those things?
