In this video we take a look at what I did during this past week, including spraying herbicides and fixing the round baler. In doing so, we'll take a look at both the Hardi sprayer and the Gehl Model 1310 Round Baler.

Lots of those sprayers around here. Your baler looks really nice. Wow, that is a long roller chain. I don't think I've ever seen a Gehl baler like that. Thanks for sharing!

It's an older baler, so that's probably why - one of the early ones. Thanks for watching and commenting.

That Bailer with all of the chains looks a little bit complicated. Sometimes with the size of the equipment we run it takes another set of eyes to be able to see exactly what's happening glad Cory was able to come over and help you out with it. Congratulations on reaching the 500 Subs that's like the first real Milestone to me, good job my friend. 🙂☕

Yeah, I have some good friends around here who will help me out. You're right - hard to run the equipment (and be ready to shut it off) and watching it work at the same time. Glad to have reached 500 subscribers - I hope I can continue to provide content that viewers will like. I appreciate all the support, encouragement, and advice that you have given me, my good friend.

Gehl must have bought out OMC Owatonna and rebranded their balers. Dad had 2, (can’t remember the model) the bigger one (5x6?) and the smaller 4x4. Still running the smaller one for hay. The larger was good for baling corn stalks.
@pagrainfarmer2 жыл бұрын
Not sure how it happened but I know there IS an Owatonna model identical to my Gehl. That’s how I found parts for it. Thanks for watching.

Well I guess that Baylor accident could’ve been a lot worse I’m glad it’s just a couple of chains to replace but it is pretty cool I liked learning about it
@pagrainfarmer2 жыл бұрын
Yes it could definitely be worse. I'm just glad we got it figured out. Glad you enjoyed learning about the baler. I try to make my videos at least somewhat educational for those who may not be farmers. Thanks for viewing and commenting.

I would love to see that baler in action. There is a 1310 on a auction that I have been looking at

I worked pretty good last year, until I accidently messed it up. If I end up doing any round baling this year, I'll get some video. Thanks for supporting the channel Brad.

Congrats on 500 subs! Back in my high school days i loved working on the farm. Did a lot of squares for my grandparents, I still help them from time to time but they really slowed down on squares due to the horses getting old and passing away. They still bale a couple wagon loads a year for steers and the remaining horses.

I sell my clover off the field to my friend Cory because most farmers don't need it and horse customers don't want it because of the dust. However, I do bale all my timothy as small squares and sell it to people with horses, who really seem to like it. I enjoy doing the small squares, but am only doing about 2000 to 2500 bales per year, rather than the 12+ thousand we used to bale when my Dad was alive and we were dairying. Thanks for watching and commenting and noticing that I just reached 500 subscriptions, which is awesome.

Yep, everything is "go" except that my timothy is not quite ready yet. Another week or so and we'll be good. Thanks for supporting the channel, Pete.

Looks like a cutdioner sitting back there we went through 3 of them over the years
@pagrainfarmer2 жыл бұрын
Yes. My dad bought that model 272 cutditioner probably 40 years ago, and up until 2012, it was my main machine for mowing hay. I have replaced it with a Massey Ferguson 725 haybine, which I'll be highlighting in an upcoming video. The cutditioner mainly now gets used for mowing oats stubble, so it still has a job. Thanks for watching.

I just got the same style baler, Can i ask you how the pressure gauge works with a full bale ? I thought as the bale got bigger it would show pressure on the door. My gauge reads 0. I started to add down pressure on the door and the bale gets bigger, This will show pressure on the gauge. Please explain how you use yours...

While I have owned the Gehl round baler for about 2 and a half years now, I only used it once, and only for about 10 bales, at which point I messed up some chains due to my own dumb mistake. So, what I'm saying is that I don't have a lot of experience with it. I do have a manual for it and I just simply did what the manual said. I do remember that I had to watch which tractor I used. If it doesn't have enough hydraulic pressure, or if you have a leak in the system and the pressure leaks off, there won't be pressure on the door. I remember having a leak at a hydraulic connector and I had to keep putting more pressure on the door until I got the pressure up where I wanted it on the gauge. Then you were supposed to stop forward movement and let the bale run in the machine until the pressure went down a little, then add enough more hay to take it back up to the desired pressure and the bale would be done. The manual is up in my Red Shed with the baler. I'll check it out and give you specifics on the pressure.

i have a small farm in central ohio. What herbicide do you use on your oats. I always have giant ragweed in my oats and i don't spray them.
@pagrainfarmer2 жыл бұрын
I use a herbicide called Rhomene which has always worked for me.
