What bothers me most about the 6400 retail cards is their ridiculous cooler setups. Just stick the most basic stuff on it and sell it at or below MSRP. Nobody but the manufacturers should want or need a triple slot triple cooler design for a 53W card. Anyhow, thank you for testing the card with an even older system that only supports PCIe 2.

I think they are just reusing the same pcb from other cards and soldering the 6400 chip on it, most likely from the 6500xt models. I mean designing a new pcb for this card alone is a complete waste of manpower, money and time, keep in mind that this is indeed a cut down 6500xt which is already a defective/reject silicon, a really bad one at that.

Check out Sapphire, Powercolor & XFX for LP, plus they & MSI have ITX Single fan models, Don't know how they compare price wise elsewhere but here in Australia their ITX single fan ones are roughly the same price as the LP ones, so unless you have a SFF Case the ITX single fan ones would be the better option for temps at the same price.

8:15, It still makes sense to compare the older system with a bit more modern systems. Like said earlier in the vid, it's not just about the GPU. It is also about what kind of system the GPU will most likely end up being put on, seeing the difference in performance when this GPU is put in different tiers and age of hardware (especially the sandy bridge cpu since that is near the pinnacle of cpu performance of that generation so it's more of a generational limitation ahha) will put an idea of what kind of performance is lost in the pairing. Also, I wonder what would happen to the lower-end segment of the market once RDNA APUs arrive.
@FFXfever
@FFXfever 2 жыл бұрын
Lets hope intel can fill those shoes. I'm happy for apu improving, but low end gpus will still have a market for many reasons. If Intel's 75w A380 can truly deliver 1660 super performance, many office towers and developing nations will be very happy to try out 1440p.

Glad to see someone finally testing 2.0 with these pci x4 cars. Any chance you could test other budget cards and compare them to the pci bottlenecked 6400 on same system? I find it interesting that the pci limitation of 4.0 vs 3.0 is often equal to what you'll find when stepping down a tier in the same generation of gpu.

Yeah, I want to see how the RX6500 XT does with the i7-2600. I have the same CPU and the same amount of RAM. @@ChrisD__ my i7 2700 oc'd to 4.8ghz with a 6600xt runs everything pretty well. RDR2 I noticed last night runs at 1080p ultra with about 40% CPU usage and the GPU usage maxed out. The only game I've seen(so far) that was bottlenecked by the i7 was BF5 multiplayer. At 1080p ultra the GPU was about 40% and the cpu was about 90%. So I left it on ultra and bumped the resolution up to 1440p. That brought both percentages around 90. It ran 70-80 fps. Seems to work pretty well honestly.

If you want to buy a new card for your new or old PC and dont want to spend over a set budget, this is a card to definitely look at. This brings a bit of life to the sub 200€ price range. You could compare this card with a GTX 960 or 970. But a 970 uses up to 200 Watts or even more, if overclocked. The RX 6400 is a very efficient design compared to older cards. Picked up an HP Victus with 5600g and proprietary PSU and Motherboard. I upgraded the RAM slightly to 16 GB DDR4 but CL 22 and 2133? Mhz so it's not amazing to most. Assuming they were compatible, would you sell the RX 6400 it came with, and try to slot in a GTX 1660 Super/TI instead? It's currently similar price when buying Used GPUs, and I believe it would provide a substantial increase in performance. If not, I may still opt to sell the 6400 and just keep the 5600g since my games are from 2009-2012 era.

We're so greatful to you for catering to budget games by making a card that only really fits a hyper niche category of users. Its quite helpful that you don't pair this card with a low end ryzen 3 u series processor in $500 laptops to make cheap gaming laptops that nvidia's left unattended ever since they released the mx150. Absolutely mad to see the i3 12300 be so much better then your 2018 to 2021 setups my friend also RX6400 if it were a tiny bit cheaper would be great, and you pointed out exactly what the issue is with my old i5 4690 stutters like the fps can get there but the hiccups can be annoying more so since i do not have an SSD quite yet now hopefully in a few months when i build my new desktop pc i will at least have an SSD and a 12th gen i5 but that is only if God allows cheers mate good video.

I have this coupled with a Ryzen 5 1600, and it runs excellent. The 6400 only does light duty gaming and is a home media PC, essentially being used primarily for display out. Couldn't be happier with it. Debating upgrading the CPU and Mobo to future proof it a bit, but for now, I love it.

In a PCIE 4 system this card has its uses especially the low profile versions for ultra SFF low power gaming. It really needs to be around 100 USD or so though to get me interested. I feel that the next gen APUs from AMD will take over the low end gaming spot and both Nvidia and AMD will make fewer and fewer gaming GPUs under 200 USD going forward. Used cards and APUs will fill that place in the market IMO. OEM boxes will still have workstation stuff but for gaming the entry level DGPUs days may be nearly over.

HI DOG 😍 Also I think the point of this card is, look what you can do with just pcie power delivery. You can get this card as a single slot version too. Single slot! Pcie power! Plays God of War no problem! This card is brilliant! I'm very excited for the future of tiny low power graphics cards, the giant behemoth cards of today will be laughable one day

Those pcie 2.0 performances are reassuring. I'm curious about people getting this for a x58 or chinese harvested x79 board. Those would have better cpu, and often, better ram, but will usually come with pcie 2.0x16. It would be interesting to see how they work with a card like this.

The big problem here is the only x4 PCIe interface. With PCIe 2.0, the card is bottlenecked by the limited bandwidth of 4 lanes. Very stupid design decisions to make a card that's getting bottlenecked like this in the exact situations it's most suited for, the older systems that need upgrading.

Not sure if this card would make sense for someone that have older GPUs like the 1050ti or the RX570, but as a nice (and hopefully cheap!) upgrade for those with iGPUs, it's always nice. I'd like to see a comparison of one of those GPUs in a system with a Ryzen 5600G or 5700G, with their somewhat capable iGPUs...

It would be cool to see the i7 2600 + RX 6400 retested against an i7 2600 + GTX 1650. The 1650 is fairly similar in terms of performance but has 16 PCIe 3.0 lanes, so PCIe bandwidth should be a non issue for that level of performance.

I've noticed the GTX 1080Ti is on eBay auction for 300-340. It has 11GB of ram. Would be curious how this works with your variety of systems?
