Looking great! I grow Dade and Kampong here but thinking I’m going to multigraft the Dade for a bit more variety.

I planted 3 in a 2mt ring to contain them - well Reineke & Vernon are about 6mt tall and 6y old not fruited and Sue Belle has been picking lately as well as setting more = is an everbearer as Glowinki said - even tho i tasted one akin to Lemon Meringue Pie they all generally taste the same unfortunately - not tasted Golden Globe Macs Golden which could be same or Chris ir Wilson the jury is still out?

First time commenting on ur channel I must say whether your northern counterparts vidblog about their tropical fruit trees or not you very prolific about showing growth of trees out of their comfort zones. And whether your based in temperate area. Your fruit orchard is amazing and I was scared about buying a white Sapote Casimiroa tree from Daleys as the height would go to 10m my backyard anit that big. You’re vid demonstrates and gives me confidence the white Sapote trees to be maybe 2metres high and growing fruit at that height. Up at the Daintree the trees are huge like small houses but your vid demos you can keep these trees tame. I’m from sub tropical Brisbane, but your vids still work for me too keeping fruit trees such as these tame.

Every tree in my garden can be kept at between 2 and 3 metres in height, perhaps that's an added advantage to growing in a temperate climate as I've seen tropical trees in their native zones, many are monstrously huge. I'm glad my videos give you the confidence to have a go in the subtropics. Thanks for watching and for your comment.

I bought/planted 2 unnamed varieties last year (Spain). Frost last 2 or 3 days.....do you get a bit of frost? Thanks for all the tips. 🍀

I get frost on and off between April and October. Does not affect White Sapote at all. Best wishes.

Which of these trees is the most compact for limited space. Do these trees tolerate a bit of shade and still produce?
@RealLifeFruitopiaАй бұрын
Vista is my most compact, followed by Ortega. All grafted cultivars can be kept below 3 metres in cooler climates. Part shade is fine.

The black spots are scale. You can remove them with rubbing alcohol and tip. I know it seems time consuming but scale can lead to mold and the scale will travel to the other trees and plants.

I spray Eco oil, much quicker than hand rubbing.

Hi, How often do you water the sapote tree? We bought a house with the sapote it's a big tree, I'm not sure how old but there's a lot of small fruit. I never taste this fruit yet but I'm excited to taste it.

Hi, I have the White Spote too. It is blooming now. Is it normal for it to bloom in the winter? Do I need to pollinate it?

It's normal to flower in winter and spring. They are self pollinating. Enjoy!

There is a plastic rim at the bottom of your trees. Is it just a rim or is the pot buried underneath? What's the benefit of this?
@RealLifeFruitopia4 жыл бұрын
They are tree rings to hold in mulch and for holding water when I use the hose. I bought them at the garden store.

Those are scale (Bugs) NOT black spot. Second the tree is actually sucking out the nutrients left inside the Leaves before they drop. You are NOT supposed to take them off urself.

These are sub tropical trees and have a short growing season in Melbourne. The trees only activate new growth after leaf drop, so it pays to remove them for new growth to start. They dont have a dormant period like fully deciduous trees.

Hi George, nice review. I have found some 8 year old potted white sapotes and I need a self pollinator due to lack of space. Theres a Kampong, a pike, a lemon gold and a golden globe.. I remember you told us your favourite variety but I cant remember exactly. Was it the lemon gold? EDIT: I remember now it was the hawaian supreme..
@RealLifeFruitopia3 жыл бұрын
I also like the suebelle, which fruited for the first time this year. Most varieties taste similar to lemon gold.
