But if you or someone you know goes through something similar, do NOT report to HR, colect evidence, wait for the divorce to be finalized (which may take years sadly, its nowhere near as fast as those AI stories would want us to believe) and then have a way to get someone else to "find out" what happened and report to HR, having your spouse lose their job due to the affair might put you on the hook for alimony and support since now its an unemployed spouse vs you, specially if they can prove you did as a vindictive act. But of course, it all depends on the laws of your country, so consult a lawyer first before doing anything rash.
