I know I am coming from a place of hurt, but I don’t like this at all. The idea that I have to do everything right and THEN she can feel like she wants to reciprocate feels wrong. That doesn’t feel like a union of equals. Why am I the one who has to hurt and work his ass off when we took the same vows? Why isn’t she bending over backwards to make me feel safe? I feel as though I’m giving 110% and getting 15% back.

It's amazing that you just mentioned something that I was close to bringing up only yesterday. A grievance that I have with my husband is that he's never once said the words, "I love you". I know you just said that it's not too important but it's always bothered me. I've asked him about it a few times over the years, and his response is, "why do I have to say it?" Of course it's something I haven't mentioned to him in years now. Is it reasonable for me to want him to say it, or should I just let it go? This is also connected to another issue in the marriage being that he doesn't do any physical contact, he was a bit affectionate before marriage, but in the first month of marriage it changed significantly. I feel as though he was 'on his good behaviour' somewhat. Feel like i was tricked a little. I know from what I've learned/come across in your materials that I, as the woman, have to lead the way with showing affection. So I'm planning on undertaking to do that soon...I just haven't made any significant moves yet.

It goes deeper and isn't necessarily gender specific. Accepting our spouse for who they are is more important than holding onto expectations, those make you miserable. Love makes you happy.

I agree. However. We can give, give, give and not get. I don't give to get but you do want to feel love and appreciated. Maybe I need to give more... I dunno.

@@darkphoenixaresryu No, I don't give to get. However, in a marriage you want to feel loved and appreciated. How am I showing up? I treat my husband as I want to be treated. I have a loving, caring Spirit. One thing I have learnef..we cannot give what we don't have. My husband shared with me that he has been depressed all his life and It shows. I have mention counseling to him several times but it's up to him to go. I will continue to work on me and love him as he is. By the way I am female...my husband is a male. Thank you for responding..much appreciated..💕
