As someone who also has ADHD, one of the issues I have is feeling what my body needs. Like I can sit for six hours doing something completely pointless, but I don't feel that I need to pee until I get up, or realise I'm hungry before I start to shake from low blood sugar. If someone asks me if I'm hungry I'm usually not right away, since it takes a bit for my brain to catch up. Going from completely full to starving in 20 minutes is completely realistic to ADHDers 😂

@@dynamicgecko1213 the nothingness to extreme hunger is not a symptom, but it's a consequence. the symptoms lead to the outcome -- being so hyperfocused on a task you cant feel your own body's cues, alexythimia and general inability to interpret your bodies internal signals is already a common symptom for nureodivergent ppl, maybe feeling hungry but then being distracted and forgetting to eat until your body is screaming at you to eat something, etc. nothing is to say this can never happen outside of adhd, but the frequency is the criteria for diagnosis, not the existence of such problems. there's no need to be rude to others who are trying to express their commonly shared experience, it is human to relate to others who have a shared trait as you.

This is a communication point I learned early on in my family. I always specify "You don't have to make something just for me, but if you're making something anyways, then sure." Because while I appreciate the gesture, I don't need someone to make something just for me. Or sometimes it impacts what they're going to make. If I say no they might just make a sandwich for themselves even if they wanted lasagna, but if I say yes it gives them a reason to make the bigger amount of food.

When I was first married in 1989, and before I read MARS/VENUS, or the 5 LOVE LANGUAGES, I had to figure this out for myself. I just didn't know. Well my first lesson was in desserts. Daisy would often decline offers of dessert. But it became SO frequent that when my dessert arrived, she would want "just a bite" of mine, I started ordering two of my dessert in the first place. Or else I would get very little of mine. ALSO, when Daisy did order a dessert, it was often different from mine. But she didn't say anything about choice when I went ahead and got two of what I wanted and just gave her one. In fact, other than thank you, she didn't say anything about it, she just dug in. I am grateful now that I took the mild, gentle road. Because she died at 41. So I can look back on this with humor. I do miss her so! ❤
