This was a huge movie for the MCU. I think it was their first truly great sequel, it's where the Cap series begins to stand out as the backbone of the MCU, and of course, the first outing for the Russo brothers, who went on to redefine the scope and scale of the MCU. Still one of the best MCU movies to date.

Jane, there is a reason to hold the knife the way Bucky did fighting Cap. Different holds are for different ways of striking with the blade the way it was held could be used to block a knife and protect your wrist while also being able to stab with a lot of force. As for the comment "keep both eyes open" - I think Fury meant they had wiped the print of his good eye, guess they never bothered to see if there were one for his "bad" eye.

Steve: "You don't have to come with me." Sam: "I know.... When do we start?" Going back and watching this, you see why it's so fitting that Steve will eventually hand to mantle/shield to Sam. Steve didn't need to join the war efforts, but he wanted to fight anyway because it was the right thing to do. All these years later, Sam has no reason to want to help Steve; but he does so anyway because it's the right thing to do.

The Best ending line in the MCU. It gave Sam some badassness and I like the fact he got the last line in Cap's movie which is fitting because Steve isn't Tony Stank who has to hog the limelight, or Mrs. "I'll kill Thanos myself" Captain Marvel who's been all over space and on many worlds and still doesn't have a proper clue who Thanos is? Steve's a team player and will step back if someone else is proficient or willing, and let them have a go. Everything you said made complete sense up until you said he wasn't superhuman. Superhuman literally means ABOVE human (in terms of abilities in this context). For fuck's sake, the injection he got is called the SUPER SOLDIER SERUM. If you run 2x as fast as the world record for a half marathon AND pull back a fucking helicopter? You are in fact a super human, due simply to the fact that regular humans cannot do that through any practical or conventional means

When you hear "superhuman", you think of the ridiculous feats that Superman, Thor, and Wonder Woman can do. So if you consider Cap to be superhuman, you're putting him on par with titans like Superman, Hulk, Thanos, Darkseid, and The Flash. If you read the original Earth-616 comics, it specifically says Cap's powers achieved the height of peak human ability and doesn't flat-out say "superhuman". So this is what I'm going by. If Marvel has changed the definition, they need to clarify it.

It was revealed early on that someone had obtained the use of Fury's password / clearance and was using it against him. What Fury revealed at the end was that he didn't have just one password / clearance profile. While the first was based on the retinal scan for his good eye, the second was based on the retinal scan of his bad eye. And that's how he got back into the system and into control. Basically, his bad eye was a security backup.

An interesting thing about the character Batroc in the comics. In an extended story arc in which Captain America was dying, as he got closer to the end, he was doing a lot of soul searching and wanted somebody talk to. For a variety of reasons like not wanting to burden this person who's already has a lot to deal with or being on shaky terms with that person or yet another person being off on a mission, he couldn't talk to his usual friends. He ended up talking to Batroc because he and Batroc respected each other even though they were adversaries. He also said that Batroc was more of a rogue rather than truly evil and that he had his own code of honor. They had a heartfelt conversation that helped Cap make peace with his life and death. FYI the arc concludes with the Red Skull (who was also dying because he had resurrected himself in a body cloned from Captain America's cells) using Cap as his final human guinea pig to test the experimental cure his ruthless and unethical scientists had created, and the Skull ends up saving Cap's life.

@30:28 - actually that's the proper way to fight with a knife. Holding it that way allows you much more flexibility in how you move and lets the blade be effective while still allowing you to protect yourself. Holding the knife with the blade facing upwards and away from yourself (as an untrained person would) leaves you very much open to counterattacks after you make the first stab or slash, whereas holding the blade downwards allows you to use the flexibility of your wrist and elbow to use the weapon effectively from a multitude of angles and still be able to block opponent's strikes

Regarding why a fighter would hold a knife down with the blunt side flush against the forearm is partially for defense, and it makes it harder for someone to try and grab the knife from you. It also makes easier to slice and cut a person versus trying to stab them. There are other functions but this is just what I remember from what my MAI (martial arts instructor) told us when we did training beyond our normal instruction.

The guy with the fancy fighting feet: In the comic books he is known as Batroc The Leaper. Of French or Belgian nationality, Batroc is the master of the French martial arts form called savate. If you don't know savate has elements of dance, almost ballet-like. He is written as much more dangerous in the comics with leaping to almost superhuman levels and tactically deadly shoes/boots (sharp stabby toe and solid heels to crush).

Best movie in my opinion. Spies and soldiers, before the huge super power characters. The fight scene choreography was amazing and still rewatch it even after all these years, never got sick of it. Black Widow here is the spy I was looking for in her movie. They were amazing.

Fun Fact: on Nick Fury's headstone, it says "The Path of the Righteous Man....Ezekiel 25:17".....that's the passage Sam Jackson's character Jules quotes in Pulp Fiction.
