Ciri in TW4 looks nothing like the one onTW3! The only thing that’s similar is the hair color that’s it. The new Ciri looks like crap. She’s disgusting. when I played the Witcher three and played as ciri I knew it was only for a short period of time. I was fine with that, but I would not want to play a female Witcher for the whole game. I need a male Witcher, which is stronger, and has more muscle mass…

it would be great when you do it first 10 times, but what about for the whole duration of the game, ppl would get tired of it don't you think? It would get pretty repetitive unless they introduce some kind of random unique events there, even then, sometimes you'd want just pop in and out regen your health and whatnot and don't care about other things(aka do it as fast as possible) I don't know how it would work tbh, it does sound good on paper, but it's hard to implement.

I don't mind Ciri as the protagonist. I think she looks fine and people are freaking out over nothing when it comes to that. But I dislike that they had her undergo the mutations. I think they should have had Ciri be a 'Witcher' by trade, but not having undergone the mutations. I think it makes more sense that way. In The Witcher 3 she... 1. Kills a werewolf on her own without a silver sword, just a steel sword coated in oil. 2. Helps the Baron defeat a griffin/wyvern (can't remember which winged beast it is) 3. Assists Geralt in defeating the crones. 4. Cuts through hounds of the wild hunt like they are nothing and defeats a higher up in their army. 5. Screams and nearly defeats the wild hunt on her own while multiple witchers and sorceresses struggle to defend against them. She was powerful enough with her being a source, having the elder blood and all of the swordplay training by the witchers. It seems like they made her a witcher just to make her one... and because she didn't think she was good/interesting enough as a character. Furthermore, that is also what fans defending the decision come across like... like Ciri just wasn't interesting enough as Ciri. She needed to be 'girl Geralt' in order to be interesting. And I think that is pretty lame.

I mean, kinda get what you're saying but just from this cinematic trailer she has access to magic and tools Geralt didn't/can't use. Let them cook, they'll incorporate her powers somehow even if a bit nerfed.

Ciri was too OP in W3. They had to nerf her in order for there to be an actual game. My guess is that she either lost her powers when defeating the White Frost or going through the Trial of the Grasses. I like the idea of having a mix or Witcher skills & Mage skills as that could make for some really interesting builds.

@@anitaremenarova6662 I am sure they will incorporate her powers. That isn't what I am saying. What I am saying is she didn't need to undergo the mutations because she had those powers. They should have just stuck with Ciri as the character she was - because she was awesome. Instead they didn't think she was awesome and are turning her into 'girl Geralt who can also cast spells and has super blood' because they, apparently, didn't actually think she was that interesting of a character. For instance - it would potentially be cool to see a Triss or Yen spinoff where you play a sorceress and can cast crazy spells. But it wouldn't make sense to make 'The Witcher 7' and have Triss undergo mutations.

@@AlanShore97 I think it is going to make for interesting builds and gameplay as well. But they already could have done this. Without even undergoing the trials you could have given her the skill trees: Witcher - Sword, Oil, Poison skills Magic - Elemental, Magic skills Misc - Chain, Crossbow, Grenade, Health/Movement skills Then they could have had some system that comes into play later called Elder Blood or whatever that is super powerful. There just wouldn't be potions, because she wouldn't be mutated. But you could have the swords, oils and poisons because she was trained by the Witchers in those things.

@@ransom-- You didn't read my comment... She is using sorceress magic not basic witcher signs. There's even a shot of her channeling it from the ground which is book lore accurate. You can make your own build just like in witcher 3 nobody is forcing you to play her like "girl Geralt". More options is always good though so I won't complain about being able to just play a straightforward witcher.

From what I understood in one of the game director interview, it seems they want to make the chain an element of gameplay and not just having it appear in the cinematic and then you wont even see it or use it, like in the Witcher 1

Yeah the game engines probably couldn't handle the chains properly, that's why they dropped the idea before. Now with the Unreal Engines it's finally more a creative choice than a technical.

I think people kind of forgot that CDPR announced a TRILOGY back in 2022 not just a single new game that is Witcher 4, and they laid out a roadmap that said that after Witcher 4 comes out, they plan to release Witcher 5 three years after it, and then release 6 three years after 5. So I honestly can't see how they would be able to also create expansions to those games AND make the next games at the same time at least in how they currently laid out their plans. Unless they change it I don't think we will be getting expansions.

It'll be possible because they are all using the same engine and Nvidia + Unreal devs will help them with the engine and graphics. All they would have to do is develop the quests and decorate city, etc

They already did that. Ciri is a woman and can't be a witcher. You see her using signs and taking potions that she shouldn't be able to. I'm expecting this game to be an L. The CDPR we love, died a bit ago. All the people that made it great are mostly gone, brainwashed or worst.

@@devilgames2217 This is a lie you are propagating, nowhere in original polish translation there is any mention of women couldn't be a witcher, in wicher 1 we had a female witcher anyway. The chapters about Ciri's stay in Kear Morhen involve delibarations to use trail of grasses on her, which Triss stops. Vesemir and other male witchers just think she's a small girl couldn't handle them, because of how mortal it is for small boys. Unless you take your knowledge for the Netlix series, stop whining about lore online if you don't even know it. Same about people in the studio, few big names moved studios, but still cooperate with CDPR on another witcher projects, most of the original creators are still there, but there is more then 300 new people because this game development demands it, and those people are great, met few of them. Stop lying around, just because you don't like the game or don't like playing as women in games.

Also, given that they said that they want to release The Witcher 4 and then have the Witcher 5 out three years later and Witcher 6 three years after that... it is hard for me to believe that they will be releasing expansions for 4 or 5. I could see part 6 getting several expansions though.

This is my theory-or more like a fan dream-about the story (WARNING: book spoilers!). For the main story, I’d love for it to be big and complex, connecting all the events of the saga. Ideally, the story would start in Witcher 4 and conclude in Witcher 6. As for the antagonist, I’d love to see Gaunter O’Dimm seeking revenge on Geralt for what happened in Hearts of Stone. He could subtly manipulate and steer events in Witcher 4 and Witcher 5, with his full motives and plans revealed in Witcher 6. In the finale, we’d get a climactic moment where Ciri, Geralt, and Gaunter O’Dimm meet, similar to the standoff in Hearts of Stone (a great callback!). Here’s the twist I’d love to see: during the final boss fight, Ciri ultimately falls, but Geralt kills Gaunter O’Dimm, reversing the dynamic from the books where Geralt dies, and Ciri survives. I think that kind of twist would be a cool and simple way to tie everything together. (of course O'Dimm doesn't appear in the books, I meant more about Geralt's death in the books)

I really want OPTIONAL RDR2 style crafting where we can start a fire, brew potions, concoctions & oils and oil our swords all fully animated. Optional being the keyword here. Quick prep for 90% of players & immersive prep for the 10% of us who want the full fantasy. Also, I’d really like minimal menu interaction. I’d much rather have the bestiary as a journal in game rather than a menu screen. For combat I really want more true Witcher style combat where we can move rapidly around the fight arena & for the true boss enemies to be a bit more souls like. Maybe even a Dragon’s Dogma style climbing mechanic for the bigger enemies in order to strike the killing blow. The combat in Crimson Desert looks awesome so a bit of that style would be nice as well. Finally, I want CDPR to just cook & give us a great game with minimal issues at launch. I don’t mind waiting until 2027/28.

A small question, since the initial plan for the new Witcher trilogy was to have 5 and 6 out within 6 years of 4's release, do you think we'll still actually get expansions for each game?

It would suck if we never saw one expansion for these sort of games. And as with CDPR as always, plans change, same when they said for Cyberpunk and then besides PL they reworked all major systems again and keep updating the game. Plus, there is also Cyberpunk, no way I see CDPR overlapping those two IPs too close to each other with releases.

That changed when they became a public-traded company and also decided to introduced additional media. The Witcher Netflix series and Edgerunners showed that putting additional effort and support towards a game pays big dividends. Also that is why they have been awfully quiet on release dates. There is a new Cyberpunk show in production and they keep supporting Cyberpunk 2077 with patches. Let us wait and see. :)

I think considering Ciri would fight differently from Geralt, it would be awesome to switch the crossbow for a bow, and that Ciri would be able to imbue the arrows with elements using her sorcerous power. It could add some different strategy to the game. Also I like something that The Ghost of Tsushima did, where there were different fighting techniques that would work best for different types of enemy, and you had to choose the right moment to use each ability. Though maybe it's not the style of the Witcher

I’m not sure how much DLC we can expect. With this being a 3 part saga, and CDPR saying they want to reduce the time between releases, I could see them focusing more on the second and third games, and then maybe releasing some DLC after the saga is complete, kind of like after Witcher 3. I don’t see them working on parts 2 and 3 while also working on DLC for each part. Of course more Witcher content is always appreciated, but I see them prioritizing the saga over DLC initially.

I just really enjoyed having the game then having 1 or 2 expansions for it, I think it was working really nicely for CDPR and gives more breathing room for Cyberpunk as well and their company, I mean you only have so many devs. But again, if they manage it, I wont mind, its more games to play.

I think an expansion is unlikely because I remember the devs saying that they are planning to release the trilogy whole within 6 years ( after the release of the first in the trilogy) so there is minimum time to make an expansion .

I dont foresee any expansions being planned. If they mean to release the next 2 games within a 6yr time span. That doesn't leave much room for the sizeable expansions we've come to expect.

Definitely agree with this. If they want to have part 5 out three years after 4 and then part 6 out three years after 5, it is hard for me to envision them releasing an expansion, let alone multiple expansions, for parts 4 and 5. MAYBE they can do something the size of Hearts of Stone where it is like $10-$20 and is basically just a really big side quest. But I don't think there is any chance something like Blood and Wine is going to be coming. That being said it wouldn't shock me if the new trilogy sells well that part 6 has a TON of DLC. Like 3+ story expansions or something like that to keep cashing in.

@@justinp_ It also seems to me like they are going to do trilogies or longer stories with The Witcher franchise. So my guess is they just do 4, 5, 6 and then a bunch of expansions for 6. Then work on some other trilogy or story. Cyberpunk though it seems like they want to release massive one off stories in a game and I could see them making a significant amount of DLC for each one that they make. With 2077 they had plans for more DLC than The Witcher 3 AND they were going to make a multi-player spinoff.

I wanna know what happened geopolitically, honestly I would love for Nilfgaard rebellion to succeed (some endings have it happen but not sure about results), basically in the books there was a scheme to make Nilfgaard info an imperialistic democracy, kinda United States of Nilfgaard, I loved the concept, and hope that happened! It would be so interesting to see a massive democratic empire fight Redania, and Temeria separatists.

Witcher 4, without John Mamais and Konrad Tomaszkiewicz will not surpass Witcher 3. They need to make gameplay and combat fun and implement gore dismembered system more better finishers. Add Witcher 1 styles of combat attack from different schools . More monsters contracts Monsters with deferent behaviors and their unique abilities. Letho should come back such badass character! Lambert should come back with Eskel. Still disappointed that we playing as Ciri…still coping 😂

I hope they add some segments of Geralt gameplay like they did in the Witcher 3 with Ciri and some romance scenes straight/lesbian whatever Ciri sexuality is in cannon* and some cool armour set ls feminine/sexy in design for ciri that NPC comment on in cities also survival mechanics food,sleep,hygiene etc And ofcourse let the player sit/meditate wherever they want. Always annoyed me about Witcher 3 you couldn't really immerse yourself even in your own vineyard lol

I think a lot of fans of the Witcher books and games will need to concede that the game has always taken the story beyond the canon story. Having Ciri take the Trial of Grasses as an adult is strange, but if anyone could it would be her. Why she no longer has access to her massively powerful magic would need to be explained. I for one hope we also find out what happened between her and Galahad and see her reunion with fellow witchers Eskel and Lambert.

Elder Blood carries magic, Yennefer, Triss. Go through the books and you will find out. Magic or spells range in difficulty and size, same as Geralt and other witchers can cast simple low level magic which they call signs.

Over the years I have heard CDPR say many things, and I if they continue with their internal company goals it might, but I would still like expanding the base game a bit longer before moving on to lets say Witcher 5. But again thats just me.

I can appreciate your wish list here LKM . My wish list was to be an authentic Witcher , which isn’t going to happen as they retcon ciri n her source material role . Ciri is a great character that is intricately and uniquely tied to Geralt and his story. She has elder blood and was trained by Witcher with a very unique skill set of her own, but not ever able to become an authentic Witcher, which was understood. This was even discussed in the books as to why Witchers would take small boys to put through the brutal barbaric torturous trial of grasses that very few of them even survived. And this was also according to the biological hormonal composition of boys that is very different from girls. It was not a role for women . And you can theorize on the possibilities of this potential outcome or that potential outcome or maybe this happened or maybe that happened and blah blah blah but for the authenticity of the world that Andrew created here with it setting and time period… This was just not a role for women. Now if they want to have a female lead, it would make much more sense in this world to have us play as a witch or a sorceress. That would make sense. Or just as Ciri as a child of elder blood that was trained by Witcher with that skill set. Not a true authentic Witcher, but just a unique individual trained by them but having to adapt to her limited capabilities of not being an authentic one. At least that would make sense. But again, we have the rules and the source material foundation for this world/universe. So following that and respecting that you could just create your own outlier with this new school of the Lynx as they’ve done and then a brand new protagonist that is a authentic Witcher and brand new characters and a brand, new area, etc. A fresh start would have been the correct approach. That would be my wish list truely , a fresh start , originality . We got the perfect ending and closure to Geralts story with all those characters intricately connected to that story such as ciri in this salute and farewell at house, Corvo. A perfect closing of one book as all good stories have their beginning and middle and end. So it makes so much more sense to start a new story in this world. A new chapter, open up a new book with fresh characters etc., and leave the previous story alone. Let it be done. So to me, what CDPR is doing here is just a safety move. It’s a security blanket. Instead of creating originality, you just reuse and repurpose previous recognizable brand/IP and in this case it’s ciri . Not only for that brand recognition that is safe but also because she is a female, which is also modern day relevant safe.🤦‍♂️ It just reaffirms to me as I knew already years ago that the development team that created the previous Witcher games… most of them don’t work at cdpr anymore . And the new team with its leadership just doesn’t have the same priorities that used to be there. Of course bro, to you and everyone else looking forward to this game I wish you the best and I’m sure you’ll have a great time. But for me, I see red flags and that’s something I’ve stopped ignoring.😉

And again the priorities the company are showing are different priorities than the old team that gave us the Witcher games and company success. None of them work at CDPR? The freaking lead writer for Witcher 3 is still at CDPR working on Witcher 4. Plenty of people who worked at W3 are still in CDPR, many left, many stayed - that's life. You just came with an agenda and bend the facts to fit your narrative. Ciri is no ordinary woman. Geralt was also special type of witcher who was much more suitable for mutation because his mother had magical abilities. Ciri has magical abilities it implies that she might be able to pass the trial of grasses unlike ordinary girls or adults. Also, different schools have different trials with different traits, we don't know about each and everyone of them. There is a magnitude of ways to explain Ciri's mutation. But for you it just can;t be done because all you see is woke-ism. The story is not the problem - it's your interpretation that is.
