Great and motivating video. Our first cocker lived 14yrs, had great natural instincts. Used his nose and hunted tennis balls or whatever else thrown or hidden almost flawlessly. I was a little too young to appreciate it but all of my grade school friends got a kick out of it. Out latest cocker is now 7, fetches fairly well and some basic commands i.e sit, lay, come. We recently aquired a female as a companion for my mother n lad shes just over 2ys and is expecting. Vet sees 5 spines and we are taking great prenatal precautions with her. Four are being rehomed to great and qualified families, we will keep 1 male. With your excellent series of videos and my personal growth and maturity i will do a much better job at training. Thank you! P.S., our 7 yr old boy Oreo is Charlies twin. 😊 Gorgeous black shiny coats on these boys.

If you have a couple of dog pups to choose from leave it as late as possible to choose the right pup that's my best advice

Hi, love your vids! A question, you would not recommend the spit to a novice. So I was wondering what you do instead? Make him sit with the whistle when he didn't find his ball yet, then throw the dummy and let him retrieve that one? Then continue to hunt to a ball?
@hampshirespanieltrainingwi93143 ай бұрын
What I would perhaps suggest doing is making sure that your dog has plenty of retrieves to Hunt and find and return with and then do stopped marked retrieves in between but don't throw dummies for the dog unless the dog is hunting really well that's an indication that Dog is starting to associate you with throwing retrieves so only throw retrieves when the dog is hunting well🐾

Question Cris, before sending him back i also hear a litlle "pip" with your wistle. Is that your intention or is it because you say the word "back" with a wistle in your mouth?

No I Always have a stop whistle first even if the dog is sat already ☺️well spotted

Are you training Charlie up for a client or yourself? If he's yours will we get to see him trialling at the end of his training?
@hampshirespanieltrainingwi9314 Жыл бұрын
He is mine it all depends on how good he is .. if he is good I would run him but I don't have time to be running in trials all the time like I use too 👍
