Hey Thanks! Great idea. Good thing I had my safety beard...lol

This beard actually caused it while it was stuck to it . This is where You have to think is it good to be with long beard near angle grinder and other spinning tools. This was first thing what they teach in schools that You don’t be near something what can stuck to you. This beard thing is very dangerous just for hanging there. Better cover it with 3M mask if you grind or do other things what can cause this. Same reason You can’t be wearing a tie in working lathe.
@jasonborn8673 ай бұрын
@@westcornergroup4375 I disagree. The beard didn't cause the grinder to jump back, and the shirt actually stopped the rotation. I believe the large amount of hair protected against the direct contact, but could be wrong. What would have prevented the kickback is having a second grip handle attached, which was acknowledged.
@westcornergroup43753 ай бұрын
@@jasonborn867 no way, You don’t know nothing about physical movements! If there wasn’t beard than it won’t be able to go so far at all. This beard was like sucking it deeper and deeper. While grinder was spinning and there was much resistant that was reason while grinder was going deeper and deeper. If there wasn’t any than he had to be able to stop it. That is also nr.1 rule : if You work near in spinning machines You don’t let it hang freely (the beard). It was like written that sooner or later wanna happen. I have seen many accidents about Lathe machines about hanging clothing and it is all the same. Spindle just sucks all in while it spins.

Jason, Son! One can never be too careful, when doing most things in life! I’m so glad you weren’t hurt badly, glad you do wear safety glasses! Yes, those cheaper wire bristle wheels throw wire shrapnel! When I was at work years ago, a guy probably 10 feet from me was using one on a grinder and a couple of loose projectile wires flew across the room and stuck in my body! That made a safety stink at work, they had to put up barriers to protect others from flying debris. You might consider wearing a mask of sorts set just below your bottom lip over your chin/ beard/ lower neck, when using any power tools. Continue to be safe and well, looking forward to further progress on the ‘59 El Camino!

You are very lucky. I've done similar stupid things. Was running an angle grinder with the lock-on engaged trimming nails off in a hot steamy attic. The grinder slipped out of my sweaty hand and fell into my lap. Luckily I was wearing baggy Dickie pants and the grinder stalled when it wrapped itself in the fabric beside my upper thigh. Another blessing was the cord was actually in my lap and I somehow thought to unplug the grinder. Ruined pair of pants and a scratch on my inner thigh was the only damage. I climbed down our of the attic, unwound the grinder out of my pants and told the boss I wasn't feeling well and needed to take a break. He never asked me what happened until days later. I've never used the on-lock on a power tool since that incident. I always leave the guard on, have 2 hands firmly on the tool and am super diligent about checking my surroundings to make sure I never put myself in a situation where I could lose control of the tool. People have accused me of being slow when I work, I just tell them it's called being cautious and wanting to keep working and enjoy it. Nice work on cleaning up the front end and the paint looks great. Look forward to seeing that front end come back together. Be safe and stay well.

I recall the 1st day on the job.I was a military sub contractor for a company called green metal product. I was using an angle grinder with a 6 inch disk on it.Grinding off tabs that were left by weld slag, so they could be painted.They were large brackets but there were multiple surfaces that needed to be ground down. The disk shattered and shot half of the disk into my chest up into my throat and it impaled into the skin in my neck which I still have a scar to this day, it knocked me out and I had to go to the hospital and stay for observation.. I had to have a my airway from the incident because of swelling that was severe. I learned quickly to never lock in the trigger on a grinder.Or take the stabilizing handle off the side during the process of using a grinder. You made it out pretty good, but take precautions as much as possible. It takes but a split second to become tragic. I am glad to see you are in good shape Jason.❤
