Couldn't agree with this video more. When I met my now wife, she had a Vauxhall Corsa, which she's picked up on a PCP and she was paying about £220 a month for it, which was hurting her financially. When the two of us got engaged and started to couple our finances, the first thing I did was insist she got rid of it and I assured her that I would buy her a car outright to replace it. In the end I picked up a Cat N Volkswagen Polo (2006) for £1,800 and our view was that even if it lasted one year only it was still cheaper than the PCP car. Cut to 6 years later and that thing is still going and still saving us money. Every time we take it for an annual MOT the mechanic who services it always talks about "what a good little runner" it is and how it'll probably run for another decade or so too.

@@CraigPerks awesome story! Thanks for sharing. I think current cars have so much tech they end up being more unreliable than the last generation. Even if secondhand. Glad the polo is still going strong. Many more good years to come I hope 🙏 thanks for sharing.

@@mes12offical6 thank you for the feedback, and welcome to the channel 🙂 It's great to hear you're finding it useful. This is the main focus. Trying to give people guidance that I wish I had 10 years ago! I will aim to post twice a month when and where I can. All the best 🙏

People do the same with watches, i have friends who have dropped thousands on so called luxury watches only to lose thousands when they've sold them. What your buying is a feeling though, you bought that car because of how it made you feel at the time. We've all done it 🤷♂️

@@Neil.C57510 I agree. In my case I thought the car would bring me a good feeling which would outweigh the cost. But it didn't and I think people just need to be aware that there are more costs that just the upfront ones. Especially earlier on, if you invest that money it could be worth a lot more than you realise. Thanks for sharing 👍

Bought a small car for £400. Thought it be a stop gap car for a month till i found a decent one. Kept it for 2 years. Bought a bigger car for 5k. Feel for £4600 more, a bit much for me but hey. Anyways, keeping it and run into the ground.

@@wild4fp love this. Having my cheap Mazda was the most liberating change I made. Thanks for sharing your experience! Glad to know it isn't just me 😅
