A sad story and sorry to hear of the loss of your friend in such awful circumstances. I see people who have passed away on a daily basis in my work, and I also see that often the people around that person are the ones who are hit hard by the shock. Talking about it like you have here definitely helps you overcome the grief. Stay strong.

My brother died last year in November. I passed by him in the morning and asked if he was going to move his car, took my shower and passed by him again asking if he's going to move his car, got dressed in my room, then went to try to wake him up again, that's when I noticed he wasn't breathing and I tried to wake him up but his body was cold, that's when I knew he was dead. It happened two days after his birthday and I still miss him, he was my only brother.

Dave sounds like he was a really nice fella. Although it's such a terrible shock for you and his family to lose Dave suddenly like that and for what you went through being the one who found him, I'm glad that the hospital said that it would have been quick and painless for him. His passing befitted his life from the sounds of it. I hope I pass as peacefully when my time comes. RIP Dave. x

Hi Paul, I'm so sorry to hear of this. What you said about being in a dream-like state, everything seeming so surreal and trying to process the fact that your friend had passed is how I felt when my close friend died of a heart attack aged only 53. I was in a state of complete shock, couldn't process things and was very depressed. Even to this day I still think of them and it hurts knowing I'll never see them again. I feel your pain. I say to myself I'll never get over their passing, I just get a little more used to it. They'll always be in my heart and head. Stay strong.

Hi Gareth, Thanks for taking time to watch and comment. Yes its exactly that. It never goes but just gets easier to deal with and you get days what if, what if. It was just one of life's unfortunate things. Sorry to hear of your loss also.

This is the big problem with tradesmen working alone in empty properties if something bad happens they have no one to help them . I am a joiner and once working at an empty house my workmate had a heart attack and collapsed i was able to give CPR and phone an ablulance had i not been there he would not have survived

The nice looking house abutting golf course in country club subdivision. EMPTY. Real estate agent wanted it rekeyed, right away... they had a showing in an hour. OK. only 3 exterior doors.... would have been fine, until I open front door, and get hit by a wall of cat urine stench. I had to quickly remove the lock while holding breath, do same with next two doors.... rekeyed in the van. The above was far worse than houses that were crime scenes ( One had a front room with a mattress soaked in blood..... the center had been cut out by coroner who took the body with the top layers of foam from mattress itself. ) Rather have these all day long, than a hoarder house or a cat-lady house. But these sorts of jobs are not personal, they do not hit home. It is sorrowful when you lose someone close.
