Locksmith from Australia here. Loved your video. Love to see locksmiths actually using their skills picking and decoding locks rather then ringing around for a key code. Very lucky to have such awesome workers representing your company. Keep up the good work. Also I’m probably one of many that could actually see you pumped the door open to get onto the window winder with your Long reach tool to wind the window down. Also I use wd40 all the time on sticky wafers. Nothing wrong with using it and I find it works great freeing them up. I dont know where this massive myth about wd40 gumming up locks came from. Any lubricant you put in a lock is going to attract any dirt/sand/grass clippings etc if it’s on a key blade. Honestly great job. 😀👍

Very cool to see you using lishi tools, as well as the old air wedge, etc.. I liked that slider-lock key cutter. Makes sense you'd have these tools in your van. Respect. Are you picking things like Medecos or disc detainers like Abloys, etc.? Just curious what kinds of challenges you face on that end of things. I like to pick and I'm thinking of apprenticing. Any thoughts or advice?

My son has always been in to gadgets and good with working on things. He's 19 and would like to get into this. Our state doesnt require a apprenticeship here. However, he has been given an offer to train as he has absolutely NO EXPERIENCE. He was offered a 5 day training with Dr Locksmith, but I am wondering is this good for the person with NO experience.
@wevegotthekey
@wevegotthekey Жыл бұрын
Hello, training would enable your son to progress from a complete lack of understanding to having knowledge. He would gain some practical experience if the training is hands-on, which it should be. However, we don't believe your son can be completely professional in 5 days, but it could be a start. We also provide locksmith training, which is available at wevegotthekey.co.uk/locksmiths-training/ You may check there to see what needs to be learned and compare it to what he is learning to understand. We certainly hope this was helpful?

try get an apprenticeship at a company that covers all scopes of locksmithing, a lot of companies specialise in one sector. well that's what its like in australia. some locksmiths are purely safe related, whereas some are purely automotive with some commercial/residental chucked in. its a really rewarding trade, especially if you get good at your job. youve got this!

A locksmith using wd-40 upsets me. Houdini is vastly superior. WD had no lubricity once the vehicle evaporates then it gums up the lock. It is mineral oil and fragrance . WD is good for removing ink, adhesives and keeping liquid oxygen from freezing to the outside of rockets for which it was formulated but not for locks. Yes being a locksmith is a great job to have

If anyone knows, is it common for locksmiths to travel so far daily, or are you able to find work that's more localized?

Pretty random in my experience. Sometimes your next job is down the street and then the next job will be a half hour away. Just depends on who calls in that day and where they happen to be located.

So you are saying 95 percent of the time your job is crappy?
@randymears1378
@randymears1378 Жыл бұрын
@@shomari17 No. I would say 20% of time there is some complication such as, secondary alarm system installed, dogs seem to be living in the car, pit bull dogs running around, customer does not have all the money or go to my husbands workplace to get paid, none of my scanners will do the job, worn or dirty cylinder needs replaced, intense perfume in car, customer wants to watch every tiny detail asking questions etc. As Yogi Berra would say, half the time I love it, half the time its just a job and the other half I hate it.
