I used to love the adverts that WWE ran on WCW showing the old guard lol. Loved this part mate, going onto the second part now :-)

Ah the old Billionaire Ted skits with Scheme Gene, The Huckster and The Nacho Man - great stuff ! Thing was it worked against them because casual fans tuned into the WWF to find all their old favourites had gone to WCW so they started watching them. Funny how these things work against you sometimes. Hopefully there will be a part 3 and 4 if the demand is there. Glad you enjoyed it mate, thanks for the support and thanks for watching !

That NWO shirt,hell yeah. Those VHS are absolutely gold,some are so high priced it’s crazy. I loved Razor Ramon and Shawn Michaels lol. Such a treasure trove you have.

The VHS got really pricey around the time they had to change their name and logo in 2002 I think. With all the old logos being blurred and any mention of the WWF or in full were bleeped out, those videos shot up in price. I got rid of a load and some very early DVD releases too. Some of this stuff is unlikely to make it to the Network too. Glad you liked the shirt too, I dread the day its not going to fit or just degrades and falls apart 😂 Thanks for watching my friend, appreciated as always and hope all is well 😁👍🐻

Nice collection, was around 89 - 90 I had one mate who had sky, for the major events he would make up tickets and give to a few of his mate, to go round his to watch, went round a number of times, fun times. 👍

Sounds like a mate of mine that does. You always had to make sure you got your request in to tape something before other people did. I got lucky quite a few times and I don't think I missed a WWF PPV from Survivor Series 1989 unitl the early 2000s. Glad you enjoyed it mate, kore to come in the next part. Hope all is well, and thanks for watching and appreciate it as always 😁👍🐻

Enjoyed it. Thanks. A bit of odd history is one of my great grandmothers was a madam and she dated wrestler Gorgeous George. My childhood friend watched wrestling. He had gigantism but they were able to slow and stop it in him so he finally stopped growing. Even at a young age he was adult sized and thick as a tree, and we use to watch Andre The Giant. He would shout at the tv with a booming giant voice. It was intense! Hahaha... Thanks again!

Wow there you go. Its always fun to know these little facts that people come out with. The great thing about wrestling back then it was very much the suspension of belief. Once the world changed it had to change and its never quite been the same since for me sadly. Give me 2 guys battling for months over something silly and I am hooked 😁 Thanks for watching mate, much appreciated as always 😁👍🐻

New best video from your channel Russ. I love classic wrestling and glad you have a sizable VHS collection since I love doing the same thing collecting VHS pro wrestling tapes bro. Lots of goodies that I can relate to in this upload Russ. I love it. 8^) Anthony..

Thanks Anthony, this is exactly the response I was looking for from people who this was aimed at. I did not realise I had so many tapes in all honesty, so it was a surprise what there was. Another part to come and then I have another pile to go through which could take some time. Really pleased you enjoyed it mate, much appreciatec and thanks very much for watching 😁👍🐻

Yes Russ, been looking forward to this. 👍 Yep, I got a bit overexcited after our chat and put a vid out early but you've shown how it's done here mate, I was glad to hear you talk a bit about each one, your memories and opinions on each one, etc. Looking forward to the series and i'll possibly do a response / follow up when you have finished. A stellar collection and ive borrowed / watched / seen bits of quite a few of these over the years. I might have to dip i to ebay and pick some up. I have hulkamania forever loose and didnt bother showing it, god knows what happened to the case. Love the wcw-released nWo tshirt, the wwe released never looked quite right. Surprised to hear you aren't a big shawn michaels fan. Made me laugh that the video referred to his playgirl shoot (remember bret digging him out for that on raw in 1997🤣) Great stuff mate 🍻

Hope it didn't disappoint James, though my running time means the abrupt cut at the end means a Part 2. I found it practically impossible to not talk about the memories, the stories and opinioms and am dreadimg getting to the PPV stuff as I will go on for hours about those. I was really surprised I still had so many of them 😁 Funny you only have the video but not the case. Mind you having checked a few of these i am stunned some are still sealed 😯 Yeah I love my nWo shirt 👍 No I was never a fan of Shawn Michaels, though I admired his work. He was just a bit too flippy-floppy for me. I remember that bit on Raw 😂 Thanks very much for watching mate, really glad you emjoyed it and appreciate you takimg thr time to say so too 😁👍🐻

@@TheRetroBear fantastic mate and looking forwards to part 2. Yeah it would be easy to sit and speak for an hour on one ppv alone, the buildup, what was going on, the history of those on the card etc. 👍🍻

Samurai fact and theory : 1. The general that sgt. slaughter was teaming was the iron sheik originally. 2. Hulk hogan had a match against the iron sheik and that’s how he got the camel clutch I think .
@TheRetroBear4 жыл бұрын
Yes Col Mustafa was the Iron Sheik, I am pretty sure General Adnan came from the Texas territories. Hogan spemt a lot of time in the camel clutch when he won the title, what a great match that was. Thanks again for watching and providing these great facts, alwaya great to talk to fan 😁👍🐻

😂😂 I would like to say that was perfectly timed....😁 Looks like the PS1 had a melt down as Trish remains on the TV for the rest of the video, so she will be very visible in Part 2. I loved the British wrestling on the tv still after some 80s tapes . Im more a early 90s wwf fan than wwe. Tape rot can be cleaned or spun In a particular machine. My friend saved many of my rare tapes . But if it's been on long it's well gone .
@TheRetroBear4 жыл бұрын
Yes I do remember it being on the World Of Sport. I was lucky enough to get The Wrestling Channel when it started (honestly this video could have gone hours) and caught the Big Daddy - Giant Haystacks match from Wembley Arena billed as the last ever time they would meet. It never looked as flash as the American stuff but it was good nonetheless. Late 80s WWF was my era, late 90s with WWF/WCW/ECW was awesome, then I lost interest in 2004. I even converted Mrs B into watching it 😁😁 Thankfully most of the tapes look unscathed - and there are plenty more to come. Thanks for watching mate, much appreciated as always amd glad you enjoyed it 😁👍🐻

@@Retromicky82 I tried in 2015 when someone got me tickets to WWE Live in Birmingham and whilst it was a fun night out it wasn't really sinking in. I tried to wade through Raw and Smackdown in the run up to Wrestlemania one recent year too...I had to give up. I also tried AEW when that started...but I just wasn't interested.

Goodness me I do like to see someone marking out , that was awesome ! I had some of these tapes as a kid and would watch and rewatch them over and over. I always preferred the big ole double tapes of the ppvs which I had a few of and managed to borrow too. It's amazing how times change, you couldn't hock a 60 minute video for a tenner now, especially as they padded them out with film interviews and other nonsense but back in the day we couldn't get enough. These days you just type in what you want to watch on the network and off you go. I think cage matches , although there a few still , have gone out of fashion in favour of cell matches. I used to love the Warrior as a kid , nowadays I see him for the rather crap wrestler and not very nice individual he was. I was watching some ppv or other a few years back and there was a 20 minute segment of him and I think Gold ... oh what's his mate , the guy in a gold suit, signing a contract for a further match. If you had that on a ppv now the crowd would be chanting boring in seconds ... how times change. I can't help but play spot the dead wrestler on these old show now :( I don't mean too but there are so many legends that have died long before their time, so many childhood heroes gone. Really enjoyed watching you go through these, they're really a produce of their time and I'm glad you've held onto them.
@TheRetroBear4 жыл бұрын
The reason for this video (and the ones that followed it) was to make them for people like us who were big fans years ago and could remember the excitement and the gokd memeories wrestling gave us, and from that point I think it really worked. It was all about as getting as many tapes as you could and swapping with friends etc. You are right you'd never get away with charging a tenner for a tape as short as that 😂 I know what you mean about cage matches, I guess with the rise of UFC they needed to give that match a different identity. You might have been thinking of Goldust with the contract signing ? I completely agree about so many of these guys no longer being with is. It is the same with the personnel too, from the managers to the referees to the valets to the ring announcers and commentators - it is a sign that this was all a long time ago to us now and we have got older and so has the world. Thanks for watching mate, very glad you enjoyed it (I knew you would 😊) 😁👍🐻
