All good the know products. Look forward to the toothbrush giveaway. Realy like the dry shampoo idea.. I bought some at the store in an aerosole can. It was awful smelling and just clung on for days till I could shampoo it out. Had to get rid of it. Ha, the first razor I ever used was a safety razor. Did you know that most older homes had a built in notch in the bathroom wall just for sticking your used blades in? The insides of lots of bathroom walls were full of them. Pretty neat way of diposing of them. Cheers.

I'm interested in seeing a video to learn more about how you pick second hand items. Do you aim for vegan items and sustainable materials? Would you buy a non-vegan or plastic item second hand over a new sustainable thing? Thanks ☺
@SustainablyVegan7 жыл бұрын
The more I grow into my zero waste and vegan life the more I just refuse unsustainable and non-vegan items. I would most likely buy a second hand wool jumper but never anything secondhand made of leather - but that doesn't mean second hand leather is bad as its eco friendly because well its skin and by buying it second hand you're not supporting the industry through money. I just don't want to promote leather items, and I don't like the idea of wearing someone else;s skin. I think I will def do a video on it as well as I'm just about to go to America - and I always go thrift shopping when i'm there !

Super helpful! I bought a big box of bamboo toothbrushes over a year ago and still have a bunch left! I wasn't happy that they shipped from Australia though, since I live in Canada, the fuel waste to get them to me seemed to counteract the good I was doing choosing bamboo lol. Where did you get the razor though? Is it like, a legit men's razor that you just got at a normal store, or some special eco-brand? I've been looking for a reusable razor for a while, and am REALLY getting sick of the cheap garbage plastic ones I'm currently using. Thanks for your awesome content!
@SustainablyVegan7 жыл бұрын
+Emily Norman brush naked would be a good brand for you then because they're based in Canada! I bought it from a Zero Waste Shop in London but it is a legit luxury men's razor - it's not a special eco brand they just make quality ones that last! Nothing scary about them - they're great! I use them on my legs and armpits and haven't nicked myself at all!
@ylime1337 жыл бұрын
Sustainably Vegan That's great to hear about the toothbrushes! I'll totally look to that. And I'll try an find a similar razor around my neck of the woods. Thanks for your help!

I would recommend getting one with a longer handle, if possible. The length of men's handles is perfect for using on the face and is fine for armpits, but a bit longer of a handle makes shaving the legs easier.

Loved this! Slowly but surely I will downgrade all the junk I don't need. Also, I feel like it would be easier to apply your dry shampoo if you have it in a spray bottle:) i know when I use corn starch on my hair I literally just grab it from the box and hope to not make a mess but with a spray bottle it'd be a bit more precise and distribute it better:) looking forward for some toothbrushes!:D

Hi, do you also use sunscreen and do you have any recommendations? I haven't been able to find something plastic-free in my local stores. :(
@sarahschmidt387 жыл бұрын
Tamy S I use coconut or avocado oil. These oils are very healthy for your skin, but if you have light skin I wouldn't use it as sun protection. For sure, you can use it as aftersun ;)
@xmanganimex7 жыл бұрын
Everyone is susceptible to skin cancer, regardless of skin color. The American Academy of Dermatologists recommend everyone to wear broad-spectrum sunscreen SPF 30 or higher every day you will be outside. Do not use oil! That's basically the exact opposite of sunscreen. Though I don't have any plastic-free recommendations, Asian sunscreen products are completely different from Western ones if you want to wear sunscreen every day without smelling like the beach! Biore UV Watery Essence is one popular choice.
@sarahschmidt387 жыл бұрын
xmanganimex Have you ever checked the ingredients of sunscreen? They're carcinogenic... And I don't spend too much time in the sun. 30 minutes and I turn around, again 30 minutes, then going in the house or in the shadow for a while. So for a full day at the beach, these oils aren't appropriate...
@alexc6327 жыл бұрын
www.amazon.co.uk/Shade-All-Natural-Sunscreen-SPF25-Unscented/dp/B00L3M270A I found this brand. It comes in a metal container which I'm sure you can recycle. I know it's not ideal sometimes to order things online but sometimes it's worth it.

@alexc6327 жыл бұрын
I use one and personally I find that I never get razor burns or ingrown hairs anymore after switching from a conventional razor. I get so much less irritation. I think it is because it is one blade and not 3-5 going over you skin at one time. It definitely shaves close enough in my experience too.

What’s wrong with using soap nuts? I thought they were eco-friendly and sustainable ...?
@ashlynnheller84005 жыл бұрын
Im no expert but I belive they were a problem because the locals no longer could afford them aince it became a trend.
@paulveg85245 жыл бұрын
hopegirl518 Ashlynn - my understanding was that their cultivation provided an income for the locals. ‘No longer affording them’ seems silly - they aren’t a foodstuff, and they are sustainable. I still don’t get it.
@paulveg85245 жыл бұрын
I totally agree! Soap nuts grow on trees in the tropics - locals can surely save enough for their needs and sell the rest. They are completely sustainable and produce a crop every year.

Hey thanks for your comment! I have minimised my make up over the past few years building on my confidence so I don't feel the need to wear as much anymore. I now only use 3 products (mascara, concealer, and bronzer sometimes) I rarely use my liquid eyeliner but i've had it for a while so not its not sustainable. I have been researching and recently experimenting with making my own make up. I hope to come up with a better solution soon - at the moment I try not to wear make up everyday and happy to have minimised so much!!
