Another Key that my professor told me is - when using the record track rename it to whatever you recording it for so when you drag the wav it'll automatically have the track name. For example you are using the record track for "Lead A" rename the record track to "Lead A" so when you record takes the wavs will say "Lead A" on em.

@@Furybeatsgme what? yes u can lol. after the song is done and the multiple tracks overlap on the punches you can 100% consolidate to show the name of the track. Much faster then going from lead vocals to adlibs, dragging it down and then renaming it. I hit enter and record and boom im on adlibs. then drag down. Atleast thats me. But aside from like 4 things this was my basic routing template anyways

Hey guys maybe one of you can give me an answer for my question. So as i see in this video you also use UAD and you see pretty much every producer sitting somewhere with an Apollo Twin or a quad in a studio. Why is no one using the integrated DSP monitoring for recording? I guess if i'm putting all these plugins in a template and start recording, everything will be behind a few ms. I record my own music for about one year with a Apollo and im always kinda "messy", i create a new project everytime, i monitor with UAD and use the recorded vox in the same project for mixing. So i record a bunch of tracks and then i organize it and create my busses and sends. Is it only for speed and "workflow" or has the method in this video some better backstory why i should switch to it? I also dont understand the idea of having 5 different delays and 4 different verbs, is it only for different backings/adlibs? May someone can help me!
@ChaceBonanno2 жыл бұрын
A lot of ppl don’t utilize the DSP because they’re unaware of it. But many engineers don’t like using it because they want to monitor with the full vocal chain. There’s only so much you can do with the DSP. They have a real time autotune and everything, but it won’t sound like the fully mixed vocal buss would, and ppl wanna hear the final product while recording, despite the latency. The reason for so many delays and verbs is that they’re different. Not only different manufacturers with different sounds and flavors, but different settings. A slap delay, 1/2, 1/4, 1/8th, etc. and a plate, room, hall verb, etc.

@@MyAudioAcademy I actually bought an sm58 to see if it would warm my vocal versus my prototypical cardiod/condenser mic...so after I type my comment I tried 16 as a buffer size ...I thought it might fry my computer lol but 16 worked/no latency. Something supremely bugging me though is that no matter how hard I push autotune...I can't get the "over effected" vocal sound real time, really. Just a wobbly vibrato but nothing smooth like I hear out of people. Not sure what I'm doing wrong. I have auto tune pro and am pushing it to max. I wanna know how for example Tom MacDonald and MadChild got their effect on the song bad news....seems that to even imagine their riffs there...they had to have been hearing it "real time" but my vocal doesnt push autotune like that.
