Hello Marie. I love the books that you shared with us . I have ADD ( attention deficit disorder) so I was never able to purchase these books. By the time I’d read three lines I’d forget what I first read . I learned to sew on my own by understanding the pictures on the patterns. So that’s why I appreciate so much when you do your videos and explain to us the pattern. Thank you very much Marie ❤

@@stonecrestquilt i don’t any medication, I never could because of the side affects. I didn’t get diagnosed till I was in my late 30’s so by then I learned to deal with it . I’m just a very organized. Boy did I get teased about that by it was the only way I could function. I’m sixty-five and I’m still the same way lol 😆

When I was in my twenties I borrowed my mum's Reader's Digest Complete Guide to Sewing, and read it from cover to cover. It seemed to incorporate every conceivable dressmaking technique. When I came back to sewing a few years ago I bought the most recent edition and did the same thing. I now have many sewing books, and each has merit in its own way, but if I want to remind myself of how to do something I haven't tackled for a while, that's still my go-to resource. As well as KZbin, obviously 😊

After moving so many places through the years, I misplaced many of my books. I purchased the Bishop Method Book, How to Make Sewing Patterns from my local library school for $.75 each and was so thrilled (15 years ago). I use them all the time, nothing like classic sewing skills. I have been thinking of the first book. Btw, both of my older books are the same as yours and they are lovely. Thanks, Marie, for sharing!❤❤❤. I edited to correct the pricing for each book, they were $.50 each. May I suggest your viewers check local library book sells and thrift stores also. Sometimes, they have a complete “Singer Library” for $2.00. How do I know..?😊😊😊. When in SF, California I visited a bookstore and found the entire collection for $20.00 (invaluable). Thanks for sharing😊

I inherited my mother's 1954 edition of the 'Singer's Encyclopedia for Machine Sewing'. It has timeless techniques but also some very dated projects. I keep it for the pure nostalgia of it. I do have a number of 'modern' reference books as well.

I understand completely, and that's why I have that one more modern reference book in my library, because sometimes there's updated methods and ways that are nice to see and very helpful. Thank you so much for watching again!

I always laugh at the line about moving the horses into the barn in time to let them out again. I have a later addition of the Vogue sewing book. The Singer ones have such great pictures they really complement the Vogue book. I also have several of Claire's books on couture sewing from a number of designers which I often reference.

Yes I have Claire's books too and other specialty ones, aren't they great? I think it's time to go move the horses in the barn again...
