I don't bother watching all the way through before I press the thumbs up now. I don't wait at all. I know I'm going to love it so I hit the thumbs up first and then start watching! I totally agree about not needing fancy machines. I've got them with hundreds of fancy sts etc but by far most of the sewing I ever do is just straight stitch. (I've got old Singer hand-cranks going back as far the 1890s that do straight stitch only, no reverse - and nearly all the sewing I need to do can be done on those too. I love them the most, along with their treadle counterparts. The old cast metal machines are fantastic - you can stitch something heavy without having to chase your skittering machine across the table!) Your German machine looks awesome. I've never seen one before but I can hear that old-style quality and craftsmanship when you sew that the plast-ick fantastics just can't match.

Enjoying watching you sew. I made this shirt and had problems with pleats. Ended up gathering them. Now I will have to try your tape method. When I sew sleeves into a garment I sew them in flat. Then sew long seam from hem of garment to hem of sleeve. So much faster.. keep the great videos coming

That turned out lovely! Very pretty in that fabric. I like what you did with the waistband too. That masking tape trick was clever, I’ll have to remember that. Looking into my crystal ball, i can see you pulling those cuffs off and narrowing them down. They’re going to drive you nuts! They’ll sit on your wrist properly then too, instead of draping over your hand. Which will also make the sleeve bunch up and be more floofy. Win win! I hate unpicking knit sewing 😩

I am in the process of making this now. I just have the sleeves to do. I wish I had seen your video first, as I like your finish on the waist band and collar better than what is shown in the pattern. Gotta remember to do it your way next time. I am making mine out of our a sweatery knit, so the sleeves scare me. 🥰

That shirt is so cute and looks very comfy. Just a thought. If you want your “cuffs” tighter on that shirt and don’t want to take it apart, could you make a fold at the end and sew on a decorative button to hold it? You might need more than one button depending on aesthetics, but it could resemble a button up cuff. I hope this makes sense.

I like the top a lot, but I think I would cut off the bottom cuff make it smaller so it fits tighter and reattach. I wouldn't have chosen such a light weight knit but now that I see it sewn up I think its great.

Your a great teacher, the enclosed seam trick is slick! Love the result, looks beautiful on you. Moving the armsyce made a much better fitting shoulder. I don’t dislike a slight drop sleeve but I’m seeing drop shoulders almost down to the elbows and I just can’t get with the program on that. Thank you so much for great content! :)

Awesome masking tape trick for pleats, especially for knits. I was worried about your making the waist band too small to get over your shoulders. I suppose if one makes it just a touch larger than the waist size (and not negative ease) it would be fine, yes? What do you think about a bit of sewn in woven interfacing only on the top of the sleeve to help give a bit of poof to the shoulders/pleats?
@mybucoliclife
@mybucoliclife 2 жыл бұрын
Hi there! I tried to make sure that I put enough stretch into that waist seam so I could pull it over and it worked! But, yes, if you are ever stressed about it, going a couple inches bigger could help. I thought about putting something in the sleeve head, but ultimately decided that since it was such a soft knit, not to. I do love puffy sleeves though :)

Band is meant to rest on high hip. Not a pattern flaw. If you tell people to change this it won’t work on all body types.
