The vast majority of people don't realize that, as you pretty much have to have racing blood in your veins for that. It's not about the win, it's about knowing you're the best, which Ken knew, only prideful people that have talent (or insane money and training) care about the win, because they think that's how they prove they're the best.

The movie Ford V Ferrari portrayed the “1 2 3” idea somewhat differently, giving the impression that Shelby was against the idea. Then Shelby giving the decision to Ken Miles to “make that photograph happen” or not. This may just be a matter of semantics and/or theatrical license. I don’t know anything about the 1960’s Le Mans rule book. Carroll Shelby and Ken miles, two great men and racing legends.

Regardless if the decision was right or wrong - this one call hurt their legacy. From what I read, I don't blame Miles or Shelby - I blame the corporation and the track for the bad call. "Ford vs Ferrari" was a movie, and we know things are dramatized for the screen, but 60+ years later, Miles and Shelby are revered and respected while HF2, Beebe, and the track officials will forever have their legacy tarnished by this one call.

Nice part of this Shelby story is Carroll was good friends with Enzos brother Dino an said ferrari would have been a much different company than it became...but Enzo new Carroll was not playing around....when it came to racing an building an driving race cars...i grew up trying to build my 70 cudas an challengers into real AAR road racers ..an was attempting to shelby my cudas big rims sport car tires heavy duty sway bars an big block suspension with a small block motor. .trouble with those cars 70 thru 74 they had no frame the basis for a good handling road race car is a stiff non flew frame with heavy anti sway bars the e body challengers cudas just didnt have the frame same as mustangs uni body...has a frame in front a frame in the back not conected....cuda convertibles had no roof an little bumpers in the do frames to help stiffen the car...oh yeah drop a hemi in that...dont take it over 4000 grand in second....3400 pounds is a heavy start point....today cars are 4000 pounds with a small block v8 terrible....

Le Mans 1966 Winner is set in stone and done with. As the racing history has it the No.2 car won the race and that is that. They are not going to change that. Might as well let it go. Ken Miles did very well for himself be happy for him in that respect. I think the only thing that can be done is by Ford in making a tribute Ken Miles Ford GT40. But that is also doubtful since Ford had a hand in screwing Miles in the first place.

The rule so to speak makrs sense in the case of a dead tie...you have to have a decision it could be distance traveled, total time on the track, whatever, but it still robbed ken miles of his rightful place as the winner, because the 3 way tie was engineered as a publicity stunt, it was not a 3 way tie of out and out racing
