Great start to the Myford ML7.. I am at the same stage as you, I have my first lathe Myford ML7 Trileva, had now a few weeks. Changed the motor from the 180 watt motor fitted to a 3 phase with inverter. ( I know an overkill for a TriLeva). Just ordered an oil gun too. Looking forward to joining you on the journey😀

Thanks for watching! I’m glad I’m not alone starting out into this but I’m excited by just how much there is to learn! My next job is to put on new belts and sort out their tension before buying a new tool post and getting stuck in. Watch this space!

Awesome! LR and a Myford! You’re becoming the 'pode' to the 'antipode' that is Geoffrey Croker. Can’t help with the Myford. I only have a wood lathe, which has been ignored (due to ‘projects’) since I rewired it with a NVR switch. While I’d like a metal lathe I think a decent press might be more useful for me as I’ve a few things to push in and out that are too big for what’s available. Your garage is looking better and better. Good luck!

Thank you! I can only aspire to Mr Croker’s abilities, it will be a long time before I’m anywhere near that. Wood lathes are brilliant too, it’s amazing what can be produced on them. A press, now you’re talking!!!

Looking at the belt covers I'd say your secondary belt is too long. It's good to have it as long as possible because it reduces the leverage that wants to twist the lay shaft bracket but yours is allowing the shaft to hit the primary belt cover and lifting the secondary cover. Click together belts are available at myford so you don't need to remove the spindle to replace belts. Primary belt cover is not adjustable although I have reduced the size of the spacer and put a joggel in the back mounting stud to bring it into better alignment on mine.

Thanks Kevin! It took me a while to figure this out! I fitted two new belts to the lathere recently and it’s a great job, there’s a new video on it last week 👍🏻
