I can't believe that this is happening... The statues should remain as a reminder of history. if you don't like it then don't look at it. As a person of color from Europe I loved the thought of going to New Orleans, because that's like the only state where everything resembles the olden times a bit and I'd be curious to see the statues and learn about the history... And now that won't be the case anymore... I mean why do they still give tours in concentration camps in Germany? By that logic shouldn't those historical camps be destroyed too? It's a shame... How are they revering it? It was put as a remembrance for both parties during that time for something like that to never happen again. So I don't get your logic. People are the ones making that decision themselves. And why would you want to destroy the statues? It's not like the kkk holds it's meeting there and say 'This statue is the main reason I wanted to join the KKK'. Also books and such are okay to learn. But when you can visit places and see things for yourself it leaves a different kind of impression on you, a connection if you will. You start to imagine how it was during that time.
