Very informative first look Tony, will be interesting to see when you put this into test, but certainly an interesting design and a whole different price point. Happy New year!

Tony, Awesome video and thanks for the detailed review. I have been playing a 10.5 degree PXG 0811X driver for a year and a half and liked it a lot. I play 0811P gen 2 irons too. Graduated from gen 1 0811XF last year. Based on reviews from you and several other experts I pulled the trigger on the new driver...........just walked in from playing 27 holes today with my new Gen 2, PXG 0811XF. My PXG fitter in Shelby, NC matched a Tour Ad DI 5S to it and I could not be happier. It’s true...slight off hits don’t suffer like before and find their way to the short grass. It sounds different from my other driver in a really good way. Not sure if it’s the balance or stark alignment aid but the center of the face is much easier to find on this club. If you don’t mind long, and in the middle with good roll out, you’ll like this driver. Except for the second cut on two holes I hit every fairway today. Not bad for a 58 year old 6 handicap. I appreciate the honest reviews and I never buy golf equipment without looking to see what you guys think first. BTW my new driver cost 575.00 delivered with headcover, new adjustment wrench in a PXG shipping container for safe shipping. Keep up the great work and thanks again for real honesty. Could you guys think of expanding? I’m thinking......My health/auto/life insurance spy....My mortgage Spy...My grocery store Spy. My honest politician Spy....you get the idea. Hit em straight! Ray

Glad you said that about the 0811. The feel was great but even weight forward with a low spin shaft I couldn’t get it below 3500. The TS3 is fitting the bill perfect for me atm. Still it’s nice to see the work PXG does explained. Thanks and keep it coming :)

Great view. PXG must be great full. This is the most informative video of their product I have seen. Thank you for doing all this research. Just donated again to the mygolfspy cause.

Made after studying the Ping G series drivers! No doubt about it. Raised crown, bumps, flat black color, etc. Good looking driver overall. Would have been a better vid without the PXG shirt though imo. Not a big deal but lessens credibility on a "unbiased" look at the new driver. Overall good video though. Thanks! One more thought, 8:30 MOI does have a TON to do with forgiveness and how the driver plays. Poor choice of words.

Lower pricing + better performance = more sales! I’m not sure what some of these PXG haters are flapping their gums about, but all I’m seeing out there is more people talking about and buying PXG products. And NO....I don’t own any PXG clubs......YET!

Great data review. Definitely excited to see the results on the range. Just bought the Cobra F8+ last year, but if this PXG driver performs as they claim then I might pick up one at the $575 price. Also looking to upgrade my 3 hybrid. Would be interested in those numbers as well.

i really dont understand the pxg hate and maybe its because i get the heros program discount so ironically their products are actually cheaper for me than the other major club makers that being said the performance of the clubs is right there with everyone else. if youre hating on them just for the price point then you should be hating on everyone else as well as their products continually get more expense every year with little or no gains on the course, pxg seems to be lowing their prices at least for the woods.

My Golf Spy, independent research.........wearing a PXG T Shirt
@tsped835 жыл бұрын
Yeah what’s with that?
@tonycovey135 жыл бұрын
You got me! I wore a shirt. Seemed better than doing the video topless. Usually, I wear PUMA (not a contract situation - I just like it), would that make you question anything I say about Cobra? I know it's fun to read something into nothing, but here's the reality. I figured, hey, I'm talking about PXG and I have a PXG shirt, and it's black (our staff almost always wears black and white), so, keeping with the theme of the video, why not wear that? Full disclosure, I shot a Callaway video for later this week. I had planned to wear a black Travis Mathew shirt for that (Callaway owns Travis Mathew), but it was in the laundry basket.
@tsped835 жыл бұрын
Tony, fair enough. But you can see why the point was raised surely? Big fan of MGS, but given the mantra of you guys being independent and not taking cash from the big guys etc., it would be amiss for someone not to notice the PXG shirt whilst (largely) bigging up a PXG product. Anyway, keep up the good work and look forward to more videos from you particularly. (I’m in the UK, I have no idea who or what Travis Mathew is)
@tonycovey135 жыл бұрын
@@tsped83 I definitely understand but read through comments on anything PXG-related and the accusation count increases exponentially. My point is that if this was a Callaway video and I wore Travis Mathew, it's unlikely anybody would have said a word (actually, I may have worn it my last Callaway video...don't remember). If I wear PUMA and talk about Cobra, nobody notices (or says anything). Wear a PXG shirt in a PXG-related video and suddenly my wardrobe is a statement on objectivity. I've always said that speaks more to the person making the comment than to what we do. We don't deviate. From day 1, this stuff has always been a reflection of how some golfers feel about PXG. They don't like it (price point probably) and so they look for any excuse to tear down the products. Guys want to read something into a shirt, so be it, but like all of you, I have a wardrobe, it consists of many brands (though as I've said, it's heavily PUMA), but yes, I do happen to own a PXG shirt (for about a year now, I think). I sometimes wear it on the course, and since this was a PXG video (and the shirt happened to be clean), I wore it here too. I'm actually leaving for an event at Callaway in about an hour. I'm wearing a Callaway 1/4 zip on the plane...I do a lot of when in Rome stuff too.

Tony Covey, appreciate you taking the time to reply. I have no issue either way with PXG to be honest. If I had the cash I’d look at their stuff as I would any other brand. The price of it is so far beyond my reach it doesn’t register though. All the best.

Okay this guy guessed the wrong price by a lot and then makes the statement that something else is MORE RELEVANT to the discussion!! Get real!! That is the END of the discussion for most people!!! Just KEEP talking CRAP dude, trying to tell all of us; get used to it everyone "its okay that drivers are over $500 and the COR has NOT changed, so finding more distance and more accuracy is NOT changing to match the price!! This guy doesn't WANT to have the REAL discussion; Is the technology advancements; SIGNIFICANTLY more distance, quality of materials --- Shafts that MAJORITY of people HAVE to switch out to get more consistent ball flight, yet- 0ver $500 for the driver AND a $150 UP charge for a decent shaft, and after the NEW season starts, Pro's may be playing a DIFFERENT shaft than you just paid a up charge for(if you should EVEN be playing that kind of shaft). Yet, he just wants to GLOSS over it and expect you to just MOVE on!!!

I love PXG's business model, and their irons can hold their own against any one, but honestly, when you look at a PXG Driver, there's just nothing there. Admittedly, a lot of the Major Brand Drivers are too gimmicky. I was hoping PXG's Gen 2 Driver would find the happy medium between traditional and too gimmicky, but I just don't see it here. Nothing about this driver screams "Pick Me!!!"

I'm still hitting my Cleveland Classic Custom XL driver fine 285 yards. Adding 2 miles an hour for over $550+ is an bad investment. PXG is obviously not targeting the general public with their ridiculous pricing for their equipment.

I just picked up a couple year old Cleveland HB Launcher and took it to the range (I'm completely new to golfing, only started this year, age 43, and have played 3 times on course) and I originally bought an old Cleveland 460 or something from around 11 years old (only cost me $35), custom shaft, new grips...was definitely better than the one year old Strata driver I started with. I needed help with the slice I developed once I finally started hitting my irons decently...this newer Cleveland HB Launcher seems fantastic. So straight, light, good flight. I'm just curious here if I'll get more distance with the PXG XF Gen1 as there happens to be an opportunity for me pick it up on a really good deal. I originally (just a month or two ago) set out to spend as little as possible...so much for that haha also picked up the HB Launcher irons from Cleveland after my initial failures with the Strata set. Cleveland makes some great products and have helped me a lot.
