Ping G400 Max Driver VS PXG 0811XF Driver - Battle Of The Forgiving Drivers!

Michael, thank you for making this driver comparison. The G400 Max is the driver that I use. I am glad to see you compare these two drivers, and by the looks of it, I am not missing anything in the PXG 0811 XF Driver.

As a Veteran, through the PXG heroes discount program, I can get the Gen1 PXG 0811 XF for $115 brand new. I think I'd rather have the Ping G400 Max, but for $115, that's a bargain.

I did the same, $115 for a club that went for $800 at one time is unreal. I ended up getting a PW and the tan camo bag from them. Really nice stuff for that cheap.

If that's the best that PXG can manage with no cost limit on research, design and materials, they should give up now. It can't even compete with the current competition. Pure vanity product. Great review, as always though.

The Ping G400 drivers are very hard to beat. With the standard, LST, SFT, and now the Max options in the lineup there is something that should suit just about any golfer. The Max ballooned a bit for me, but was very straight. The standard model is just goldilocks right for me after increasing the swing weight a bit though. The massive premium you have to pay for PXG clubs just doesn't seem to stack up to the performance in most cases. I think it is a bit like cars. You can buy a Honda Civic Type R for half the price of a BMW M3 and get equal or even slightly better performance. You don't always get what you pay for.

I like my G 400 Max the ball gets up there but it is a flat height n o ballooning at all.

Ping looks better much less expensive! Dispersion is a big factor for me. Would like to see that as part of the evaluation

I really don't think there is another driver on the market that compares to the G400 Max at this point. I just put one in the bag and almost feel like I'm cheating.

Your comments regarding the recent testing of the PXG 0811XF have been quite positive. That being said, do you feel that the performance justifies the price point as opposed to other higher end options?

Love watching your content Mike. Some ideas for the future: course management for the handicap golfer, high, mid and low - choice of club/shot. Climate, playing in wind, again potential shots for all handicap levels. In reaction to the current trend in the hike in driver prices a message to the manufacturers: buy new, you must be joking. Fortunately with video insight we have all the data for each yearly innovation, three or four hundred pounds no chance.

No brainer 😨 g400max I don't get the pxg products at all they don't do anything different to any other iron an drivers .. premium brand for the ££££££ not for me nor would I pay for any of there products... top review though 👍👍👍

Pxg are American made not bulk manufactured in China. I have the gen 1 irons and the ping max driver and 3 wood. It's all in the swing and feel per person

PXG has an huge mark down in their products currently due to Covid....just ordered a new PXG XF gen 2 driver....for only 295 US.....415 Canadian......check out their site....also picked up XF gen 2 irons at a substantial mark down....and a 22 degree hybrid....if ya ever wanted a PXG nows the time to purchase......cheers

I did not know that it was Ping's designers that left and started PSG. That must be irritating, and even more so that PSG's head shape ends up to be like Ping's. I guess it is sweet revenge to wax PSG in this test, and with 1/2 less degree loft at that. Go Ping (use the Ping G20 myself)!

I would have gone with the g400max but PXG offers a discount for mil/veterans that puts the price well under the cost of the Ping -- So I guess I will be that mid-handicapper with a club much better than his game lol

I love your reviews.. I know it's not a robot swing so we have to add human errors and that's what makes the videos great... I'm in the market for a new driver and this helps narrow down before I hit the store.. 6 handicap hitting great big Bertha with 65g xstiff shaft.. 124 mph at 90%...can you give more info/review on the shaft that comes with the head on each driver, I think it's relevant.. Thank you sir!

I don’t really understand why anyone would pay the ridiculous money that PXG are asking. They also have a prototype look in my opinion. It’s like somebody went mad with a rivet gun!

you will have to consider that PXG doesnt upcharge for a Hazardous shaft. I believe Ping and others upcharge you $225 on top of the $450 price. that combo would be around $675.

As the owner of a g400 Max and PXG 0311XF irons (both of which I love) I am curious about the differences in your initial review of the 0811xf and this one Most of your g400 drives went somewhat left and most of the PXG drives went somewhat right. Given the G400 has a slight fade bias and the PXG a draw bias this surprised me, Your solo PXG test showed it much more left inclined, hence lower spinning, hence longer, Curious about your thoughts on this

95% fit to me as I use the fitting components from the companies custom ft carts. Unfortunately they don't provide EVERY single option so can't dial in exactly everytime.

all he's talking about is distance... on a club that's designed to be forgiving... and they're different lofts! He hit the PXG 6 yards straighter, but never mentions this as being a factor. For a high handicapped player, it helps a lot to have a good lie in the fairway.

G400 Max is really a fantastic product, fitting that the pxg is a Ping knock off since they did steal away a few of Pings top engineers. That adjustable hosel is almost completely identical to pings, I’m surprised they have not sued.

Ping performed better, cost less but sounds different? No brainer. Ping driver, hybrid, and a few rounds of golf. I don't see paying for the sound of drivers.

My guess, versus the last video where you swung 4 mph slower, carried it 2 yards less but hit it 2 yards further with roll with you 400rpm lower spin, is that your today's 112mph swing is too fast for an Stiff shaft for optimal launch conditions versus the 108mph swing speed last time where it wasn't non optimal. The right shaft for 'you' and your 161 swing speed should launch it slightly higher with lower spin and give you a comfortable 275+ average carry. Seems like a very nice club but if I was Ping I might think of going to Court because that looks like a complete ripoff of their 400Max - even the hosel.
