I learned how to make this soup maybe 5 years ago. Let me attest to it’s simplicity. As a white dude Asian soups were intimidating but once I went for it it was well worth it. Make this bad boy when it’s cold and rainy out. You’ll be so glad you did. Loads of white pepper and loads of vinegar. That’s my recommendation! Enjoy!
@eriklevot289611 ай бұрын
Which vinegar is best in your opinion? I don’t have Chinese black vinegar but pretty much every other type lol And same, white dude cooking Asian food here, made the soup, the recipe I had said to add the vinegar before serving otherwise the taste will evaporate. Did other recipes and did the egg drop soup which I love and takes minutes to make but winter is coming in Colorado and would like to have that recipe down!
@AdamRasmussenAstronaut11 ай бұрын
sorry for the slow reply, @@eriklevot2896 I go with plain ol' White Vinegar. The Sour is the key and white vinegar is plenty sour, especially if you buy the higher acidic versions, and it's dirt cheap

Now I see why the hot and sour is about 2$ more here than egg drop soup

Yummm Aside: Since soy sauce is notoriously salty, why do you add salt to the recipe?
@idontbeleiveinusernames4072 Жыл бұрын
Not my post, but salt is commonly used as a flavor enhancer. When used in moderation, the salt will actually bring out the flavors that are already there, rather than make the dish more salty. That’s why most baking recipes call for a bit of salt.
