French medias hated her, they said that it was "too much" and "kitch", while in Russia they called this concert "the concert of the century"... I read somewhere that the statue represents the Egyptian Goddess Isis (if I remember my mythology right, Isis was the Goddess that judged souls after death to know if they were worthy to access the afterlife).

But my sister is a mega fan and I have learned, from her, that Mylène lives in her own universe, that she isn't just a singer and a great performer, she has created her own bubble, her own universe made of spirituality, mystery and that's one of the reason why she is so beloved, so many people see themselves in her.

Yes! Too many lives not enough VIDEOS. For the moment we only have "Désenchantée" 1991 (Disenchanted in english ou dillusioned). In 80's there are TRISTANA, SANS CONTREFACON, SANS LOGIQUE, A QUOI JE SERS. And why not PLUS GRANDIR 1985 (Don't Grow Up) the first long Video like a movie and special effects in make-up. Watch and you'll understand!

But I like the 2013 timeless intro, even though it stands no chance against the 2019, the 1999 and the 2006 intros, it is still better than most other artists entries of this world. Dereck, I love and admire your naivete and excitement - "Look - keyboards!" Mylene is very lyrically-led, very profound. I think you've tapped into a massive vein of Mylene fans here who love watching you watch with them, which is adorable. I spoke with some musicians who worked with her who said it could be difficult working because her voice is not very strong, but very precise, so her monitors had to be turned up so loud in the first concerts they did with her so she could hear herself, they couldn't hear themselves playing! Before ear-pieces! She is a master technicienne and mistress of imagery. I do believe I can agree that no-one in concert music production has the ideas to produce entrances and stage design as she does. Love watching you, Dereck, you've brightened my afternoon once again x

Nobody mentioned it in the comment but you should react to her the entrance of her first concert ever in 1989. She haven't the technology she have today but it was still very *EPIC* So you should look for Mylène Farmer En Concert 1989 and the song is L'horloge (The song she sang in 2019 to finish the concert) Also watch her music vidéo from thé 80's: Sans contrefaçon Libertine Pourvu qu'elles soient douces Tristana Que mon coeur lâche (made by Luc Besson in 92)

It was the beginning of her career and the 1989 concert did not have the technology and means of what came afterwards... but though, at that time it was completely revolutionary! No artist did that before, created such an atmosphere.... you can imagine how scandalous it was back then, a cemetery decor.... I was a very young girl of 13 and it was awesome, awesome, so much like nothing else, my daddy was with me and was in complete shock as well... the press was awfull with her at the time, just awfull, but she was à visionary and so much in advance in time !

I was lucky enough to visit the stage when it was the preproduction, I even went into the head of the statue, it was huge. I worked for another artist at this period and this show was a bit something everyone spoke about. For the millenium, everyone wanted to have a very special show, and of course Mylene Farmer, because she's always famous for her amazing shows had to do something even more bigger.

The sets for the show (including the colossal 9-meter-tall statue of Isis) were designed by Hans Ruedi Giger from the surrealist painting 1973, creator of the monster in Alien. Mylène Farmer was inspired by this painting and collaborated with it to create the decor for the show. The decor was made in the United States. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

Try to see L'Ame-stram-gram live 2009, she is dancing there very nicely, you will love it ;). She has costume of muscles and bones, her skin is like flayed... That show is VERY interesting, the entrance was like "Coming from the Gates of Hell", that's why the first part of the concert she was in a costume of muscles and bones, because her skin has burned out. ;)

Yes!!! Mystical Mylene! an Angel that lands on your hand!!! thank you sir!!!!! The greatest concert opening of all Time and Space. Yes! the mix of musical genres is nice, as you have observed. Mylene Farmer is an artistic genius- along with her fantastic musicians, dancers, technicians and choreographers....lol. The song "L'amour Naissant" refers to the movie "Ryan's Daughter" by David Lean. It's the story of an Irish woman in 1916, Ireland (same topic as "Zombie" by the Cranberries) who falls in love with a man she is not allowed to love, and then suffers the consequences of it. Been waiting for your reaction to this entrance. After seeing this on dvd back in 2002 I promised myself I would go to Mylene’s next tour. I had to wait until 2006 and the Avant que l’ombre tour but it was well worth the wait. Love the Mylenium concert as well and this intro is indeed epic. I’m in awe every time I rewatch it.

As a kid my parents had a DVD of this recorded concert and so it was the first concert I saw ever (not live but still) and as an artist this has inspired me so much and so do all Mylène Farmer's concert and MVs

You have to see "Désenchantée Stade de France 2009" to see her dancing while singing (it's the end of the show in it's outdoor and stadium version) ! Among other songs... for exemple "Sans contrefaçon" 2009, "L'âme-stram-gram" 2009 or "Je t'aime mélancolie" 2013. There is also the end of the indoor version of this show "Si j'avais au moins..."!

About the lyrics: "La fille de Ryan" - "Ryan's daughter" is a film indeed. And "Innamoramento" (italian) is basically the opposite of "dying love" - love at it's birth - "nascent love"... the same title as the song she sings ("l'amour naissant"). So the intro and the song have the same title but are the last song and then the first song on the Innamoramento album. Both feature African vocals and nature sounds.

She takes us in a new univers and when she do a new concert she takes us in this univers. There is a lot of mylène in mylène lol . And in her career the video music was very very important in the beggining. @@benoitdurant7919 surtout qu'en fait c'est un mec qui s'appelle tristan valmont (donc se faisant passer pour une fille), canadien, gay refoulé et qui joue a la poupée avec son chien, seul au monde. Il a meme usurpé l'identité d'une pauvre fille qui crée des poupées en se faisant passer pour le créateur, 3 poils sur le torse il se montre sur des photos torse nu et toujours le crane couvert il doit surement cacher un truc au cerveau ! et aucun talent puisque tous ces comptes n'ont aucun contenu, un raté de la vie quoi ! je pense qu'entre le fait d'etre gai et d'etre aller a l'ecole privé il a du s'en prendre plein la tronche et surtout fini a la pisse par ses parents. It sounds amazing to me as a French person that people outside of France just start discovering this artist. She is one of the best sellers in France. I used to listen to her songs for hours when I was a teen and I'm in my forties. Better late than never though. She is a sweet person too, very literate. I suppose you don't necessarily get the lyrics but they are quite good.

What you gotta know about her is that she controls everything. She is a total complete artist. Clothes, sounds, words, everything is thought out. People who go to her shows are in for a treat and when she was younger, there were lots of dancing, which she choreographs. No one knows about her personal life, she is secretive. I love her as an artist, her voice coupled with amazing choice of words is soothing to my mind. She is the embodiment of francophone culture.
