Hi Dereck! Thank you again for reacting on Mylène! This show took place ONLY in Paris Bercy from 13 to 29 January 2006 (the show was untransportable in the provinces) . Mylène's opening/entrance was breathtaking! Even you couldn't believe it! Mylène arrived in a "sarcophagus" which crosses Bercy in the airs before gradually descending and landing on the central stage, carried by six muscular men from the security team. The sarcophagus gradually becomes vertical allowing Mylène's face to appear on the giant screens, showing a broad smile. It's Mylène who imagined the scenario for her entry/entrance on stage (pictures and anecdoctes : www.mylene.net/mylene/mylene-farmer_concerts_avant-que-l-ombre-a-bercy_entree ). Show Estimated budget : 20 M €/, more 170,000 spectators! This is my very first time seeing Mylene live. I travelled to Paris from NYC specifically to see this show.... and to see Paris for the first time, also Europe for the first time.... so imagine my feelings due to the combination of the above mentioned factors :) I cannot add anything else, my feelings are overflowing me when I remember this!

chrystale75a I worked in the International Music department in Tower Records, huge record store in the center of NYC. In 2001 we received her Les Mots, greatest hits album and started playing it in the store. And that is where it started. I also grew up in the former USSR, where she is immensely popular, so I had also known her name and had seen some of her epic music videos like Pourvu Qu’elles Soient Douces.

Try to see L'Ame-stram-gram live 2009, she is dancing there very nicely, you will love it ;). She has costume of muscles and bones, her skin is like flayed... That show is VERY interesting, the entrance was like "Coming from the Gates of Hell", that's why the first part of the concert she was in a costume of muscles and bones, because her skin has burned out. ;)

If you love electro music, go see "L'Ame-stram-gram" live performance from 2009 : you can see Mylène is a great dancer too. The Mylenium Tour (2000) entrance is very stunning too (I was there and I could'nt stop crying! XD ) The goddess statue on the stage is from H.R. Giger (creator of the xenomorph from "Alien"), and it's unbelievable!

To be honest I was waiting your reaction on this 2006 concert opening since I discovered your great channel. I was in the crowd 14 years ago, and I still remember this evening very well. Still my favorite concert moment of my life. Even if this serie of concerts (not a tour - too heavy to move) came after a questionable album, the show was unbelievable. Oh my God!!! You did it!!! And I'm watching this on my birthday!!! A very nice gift. Alongside with the first episode of her documentary getting out tonight on Prime Video, this is actually a very good day! We knew this intro would blow your mind! I'm actually very ecstatic by your reaction, because we all reacted the same. She had stayed away from the stage for 7 years, and we were so happy to see her back. She really went beyond everything everybody had seen to make it worth the wait. We love her, and we love that you love her universe too! That face you made when you see her appearing in the coffin, that's exactly the face we made! We were like "whaaaaaaaat????" We thought she outdid herself with the Mylenium Intro from the 1999 live but this, this was epic! And when the music starts, and you get into it, we get into it as well, we react the same way you do! Gosh, that smile on your face, you are being swept away, your feet don't touch the ground during the whole experience, because let's face it, her concerts are an experience. If you love electronic music, listen to her RemixeS album, you will love it. She loves to mix pop songs, where everybody can dance to (Libertine, Désenchantée, Dégénération, Oui...mais non...) and quiet songs where, even though there 20 000 or 80 000 people attending, there is a connection between the public and her. The golden dress by Franck Sorbier was supposed to remind you of Cleopatra indeed. Both the film with Liz Taylor and Egyptian art. Mixed in with some 60s Barbarella cuts of the underwear. So interesting. The sarcophagus at beginning fits those inspirations too I find. She's 45 here. Looks amazing.

@@pferrera100JP Gaulthier is responsible for the last 3 of her shows in terms of costumes. Google it or watch the opening credits again. It's " Franck Sorbier on this one. Some people didn't like his costumes much, they are quite clunky at times with a distinctive pattern style, but very interesting... They remind me a lot of Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland. Sorbier did costumes for Tosca or another Opera, and Mylène liked that and chose to work with him on this tour. @@MariaCarabin thank you so much for your information. I knew only Thierry Mugler and Jean-Paul Gaultier. I don't notice the credits because i watch live videos of mylene on my own channel, where i subtitle her songs. So i am not accustomed to seeing the opening credits of mylene's live videos- i edit them out because of the manner in which i construct my videos. But i know the performances and concerts very well. What's cool for me though, is that my favorite costumes of hers are from Sorbier....without me knowing it- until now..lol. The "Avant que L'ombre" tour have my favorite of mylene's clothes throughout her career.....Mylenium a close second

2006 has my favourite concert ending and start of all time, with out a doubt.. and she also designed a BIG part of it.. being carried to the stage etc was HER idea, that’s just something I really respect & admire about her.. yes the theme of it is that she was dead and then brought back to the living world when crossing the bridge, at the main stage she reawakened. For the amazing melody you can thank Laurent Boutonnant yet again :) the lyrics are as you read, rarely optimistic. She has dark themes, sad & controversial ones. Also she looks like Cleopatra, is what I think you meant..

It's fascinating that two of the most epic stage entrances of all times came around the same time - the Confessions Tour disco ball descent opening by Madonna (which I saw live) and this medieval-ish crystal-coffin-from-the-sky arrival by Mylene. Mylene has always explored and blended death, sex, gothic esthetics, and that tour was all that. It's not just a capsule, it's a coffin, there is also a sleeping beauty allusion, when she is awoke. Look at how she's carried over to the "castle" stage, that's the way the dead are carried to a funeral, except she is about to come to life. It's an amazing, sophisticated and multi layer show. I am very happy you saw it and reacted to it. It's a haunting number musically as well, and it's theatrical perfection.

@Fantoma The Mylenium Tour is great in general, due to the different types of scenes (Mefie toi, Dessine moi un mouton, Pas le temps de vivre). But for the "Ame Stram Gram" song, I highly recommend live 2009, because the music is very intense (the dancers came on stage by pairs) and the costume very original!!

Thank you very muck Dereck!! I first saw your reaction to the 2019's show (that I loved) and I was really thinking "you should see and react to the "Avant que L'Ombre" show and you actually did!! Great!! My personnal favorite..Was lucky to be in the audience for both of them (and others!) so it's funny when you talk about the "fans going banana" and so on, you're right! You actually solved a very old debate in France about the lyrics and thank you for that as well!! Many heard "Shut up Farmer" not "Shut the Fu.. Up" before the song starts so now it's clear!!! As for your question, Mylene's has never made the same album twice. She's been always been experimental and offered something different and new each time, more pop, more techno etc...Even her voice and her way to sing is changing...When one is interested in her universe, one can never be bored. She's never where she's expected, she's "disobedient" and that's how we love her 💜
