I love these sketches because they complete invert the standard joke structure. The comedy is all in the set up, while the punchline is absolutely given and predictable from the beginning.

I think it rather mocks the bad-quality, bad taste oldtimer comedy which is more familiar to British viewers maybe? So the ultra-predictable, vulgar punchline is satire itself, it's made as awkward and benny-hill-like as possible.

Monty Python mocks their contemporary British TV. SNL mocks their contemporary American TV. What's excessively deep about that lol

You have to admire Hennimore's amazing talent to hide his malice behind a mask of incompetence. I mean, when repeatedly presented with two apparently indistinguishable alternatives, he manages to consistently pick the one that is bad for his boss. Not 50% of the time, but 100% of the time. Obviously he knows which is which, and is picking the bad one on purpose!

Of course, that was the whole point of that joke, and if you put a ratio on Koreans who eat dogs it's probably gonna be like 10 to 1 or something these days. But I gotta admit, even as a native Korean I sometimes miss the 70s comedy shows with these stereotypes. It's really funny to see how silly was the Western world's perception on us.

There’s clear solutions to all three sketches. First one, just check if the golf bag has hinges on it or not Second one, just remember which room is on the left and which is one the right. Third one, leave them on the table as he left them so one has a cross and one has an x.

The boss reminds me of the guy that played Jerry's stuffy and pompous boss in The Good Life. I love the subtle brown hue this is recorded in to try and replicate the 70s period with the jingly music you'd have heard on something like Terry and June.

It is parodying (brilliantly) the highly-contrived nature of the set up to disaster found in many 70s and 80s sitcoms. The boss character is much like C.J. from The Fall and Rise of Reginald Perrin (and a few other very similar characters). There's a bit of an Are You Being Served? vibe too.
