Hey Paul, Fellow airline pilot here. I just wanted to comment on how I appreciate the quality of your videos. From the very clear and coherent idea and writing, to the execution of filming, sound capturing and editing, with an animation here and there. Absolutely fantastic end result, delivering a perfect amount of adventure, aviation, destinations, family, information about the job, and a wholesome message to wrap everything together. Fantastic job. I never tend to be such a 'backseat rider' and comment like this, but you should know how much your fine work is appreciate it. And regarding almost giving up KZbin, there is something to be said about your clear methodology, debrief, set goals, make a plan and execute, that MADE you develop your craft of making absolutely beautiful videos over time. Maybe it started at that very point, when you made that video two years ago as if it would be your last, and I'm very happy that it wasn't because I enjoy your well delivered content very much. Something about the clarity of your message truly resonates. Well done man, really - Bravo. Blue skies and easy commutes!

"Someone is dreaming of being where you are right now." That is a great reminder. It isn't always about the destination, but about the journey. And yes, I sure wish I could have one more day with my dad, sitting along the airport fence watching those airplanes.

Wow Paul...I watch all of your videos because I like the content you give and I am a loyal 1K United flyer. This video, however, was different. As I watched the last part of the video about the grass strip I thought about my dad, though long gone, made a huge impact in my life. You brought a happy tear to my eye, and for that I am grateful. I love your honesty and even your vulnerability that you show in your videos. I hope to see you on a flight some day and shake your hand. Create the memories that your kids will have of you when you are long gone. Peace brother!

What an amazing message at the end of this one. If you’re aspiring to be a professional pilot it is a lonnnnnnnng hard road. You want it so bad but it takes time to get there. Comparison is the thief of joy. Enjoy where you’re at in your training. It is a privilege to be able to get to fly. Others may only get to dream of where you are in your training. You can do this. Day by day!

I've only ever left 2 comments over the many years I've used KZbin, and you deserve one more. This was a motivating video as I have, for over a year, wanted to get into aviation. I still have a long ways to go before becoming an Air Traffic Controller or Pilot but the way you have balanced your life with family, work, and adventures on your own is truly amazing.

Please stay encouraged! I admire your whole life and career. I've always wanted to be an airline pilot from since I could remember but lost focus over the years. However, I'm glad I found a renewed focus on it, and it's people like you and Big Ern who keep me motivated. I've followed a few others, and unfortunately, due to whatever circumstances they no longer post, which is disappointing. So please continue to post videos. Also wanted to add that I'm following you all the way from The Bahamas 🇧🇸 🎉

If you’re coming to Scotland, you must come to Aberdeen/Dyce. Not only is it an International Airport, it’s the world’s busiest heliport.handling over 500,000 helicopter passengers alone (and Aberdeen is a nice city to visit), especially when its sunny when the granite buildings just sparkle.

@mylayoverlife. Great video! Looking forward to what is to come for you and your channel in 2024. I've been pursuing a talent acquisition career with United, utilizing my military experience for over a year now. Unfortunately, the timing and openings haven't lined up. But let me say... the last 10-15 seconds of your video really got to me. You are spot on. Sometimes, we have to take a step back and realize how far we've come. Bro, I love this channel and BigErns. What I like most is the authenticity and just the chill nature of how you all bring others into a world that most will never see. That being said I’m one of the older guys and starting at AA hopefully in June after a near 30 year aviation career that spanned the military and some work for the “G”. I love talking aviation to these I interact with and look forward to being able to spread that same knowledge and joy that you guys seem to bring with those you have to opportunity to interact with. Keep doing what you do and maybe I’ll see you slinging a bag one day.

Paul, what a very profound episode but what I can’t believe is that you only published 8 videos last year. I love your content fella, so please keep those videos coming. I follow Erny’s KZbin channel as well and he’s like you - an aviator with a love (and passion) for travel. You said something in this episode that made me stop and think! I have reached a point in my own KZbin channel, where I’m stuck at just under 1,000 subscribers, and I came into 2024 ready to give up. People don’t realise how much effort it is to take the GoPro with you everywhere, never mind the hours, and hours,,,,, and hours editing when you get home. I’ve therefore decided to continue into 2024 and just published my first two episodes from a recent trip to Phoenix (all KZbinrs seam to be in Phoenix in January). I’m planning “Our Big Pacific Adventure,” For the summer 2024, four weeks in Northern California and then Hawaii; and I want to recreate that hike you did on the Big Island to watch the sunrise. Your videos inspire Paul, and while I can never be a real airline pilot, I can dream, but most importantly I am lucky that Fiona and I do have the means to travel and enjoy what this beautiful blue planet has to offer. If you do make it to Scotland this year, please come to Glasgow and say hello. Your friends in Edinburgh will understand what I say when I say; “Glasgow is miles Better.” Take care my friend, and please keep those videos coming and most importantly: keep liv’n Your dream whatever it is. Graeme the Irishman in Scotland.

I think of all the videos I've ever watched from pilot channels on youtube, this one really made me emotional. I'm a Southwestern cowboy at heart, living in the northeast. New Mexico is my hometown, but my heart belongs in those 4 corners. I'm at 1400 TT and so close to my ATP mins, in the cadet program of a regional airline here in the northeast. I could cry i'm so ready to be flying for the airlines, so hopefully within the next few months, hopefully hiring doesn't close up. I dream of being able to move back to the southwest and fly around Arizona, Colorado, etc. I really appreciated this video. Incredible and a taste into what i can look forward to...

I enjoy your videos, and am currently a ramp agent. I’m still trying to figure out my path (I spent 11 years working in public safety and working for an airline is my new chapter that I thoroughly enjoy.) I met a pilot last week at a company event in Dallas who encouraged me to look into the pilot training program my airline has, but I still have to pass my medical (I was born with cataracts so I have to wear glasses) and am not sure if my distance vision is exactly where it needs to be. Also I guess I have to do a discovery flight to see if it’s something I can really see myself doing, but the biggest area of uncertainty for me is dealing with jet lag. I’ll nonrev from MCI to one of the coasts and back for a day trip and the following day I’ll feel so tired and unmotivated to do anything so I’m not sure if I could fly everyday for a living lol.

Always enjoy your chill vibes. Thanks for keeping it up past that spot of quitting. Always good to see Big Earn too lol. I’m retiring from AF this year after 20 and working hard to be sure my interview w United later this month is fruitful! Thanks again for the videos, they’ve been helpful to see a day in the life for me and my wife.

So, obviously a av geek, but more than that, I love goal oriented people and whilst I only just started watching your videos, I'm going back over time, watching them now. It's interesting doing that because you can see the progression, the family, the down-to-earth grassroots approach to what you do and what you deliver. I find everything about your videos enjoyable, even the bloopers. It's nice to see your family grow with you also and shar ein your passions. Bernie in Sydney and yes I saw the Australian trip....

Great vlog Paul. Love your channel. Loch Lomond in Scotland you have to see. It’s beautiful. Would recommend the food at Apple pan when you’re next in LA. Safe travels ✈️

Love the video Paul! I started watching your channel ~a year ago and really enjoy them (glad you didn’t give up!) Congratulations on 100k subscribers! My wife and I have a similar dream to travel to all seven continents with our boys… we travel quite a bit and would love to someday see you on a United flight. Best wishes to 2024! 🎉

I'm so glad you and Ernie got together. I saw that Cirrus and I was like I know that plane from somewhere and then Ernie appeared!

First thing, great hair cut. Next, I am glad you didn’t give up. Your videos are among the most enjoyable on KZbin. I like watching aviation channels because you all humanize an industry that sometimes feels like it wants passengers to feel like something other than human. Thank you.

My PPL checkride is this upcoming Thursday your channel was one of the reasons I left my teaching job and pursued aviation. Thank you for what you said about pushing through because a breakthrough is coming. I certainly feel that as I am beyond stressed, nervous and anxious about my checkride. Thank you again for the inspiration!

Big fan of yours and an equally big fan of Ern! So cool to see you guys combine forces and I am not surprised in the least that you guys made a friendship. Looked like a good time shared between two guys who've known each other forever. Great content - now I gotta go to his podcast!

So crazy where you talk about giving up KZbin. That is right around the time I found your content. Your segments where you talk to "the folks" are really good. This content is awesome and as someone who travels (for work) on a fairly regular basis, I love being able to see "behind the curtain" and to see how your travels and work compare.
