Back to bagging! Bag-building: that's the reason I first started watching your channel. It was quite sentimental watching you do it again. When I first started watching, I was looking for alternative ways/materials to build a shed/fun hut. Unfortunately bagging isn't really viable, both practically & financially, in the East coast of Scotland. Too wet/cold & it was cheaper to use reclaimed house brick (and pallets). I loved/love the hobbit element of you guys bag-building your structures though.

Two years ago, because of your videos, I built myself an outside shower. I just was so enamored by this idea of showering outside and my goodness it really is so amazing. Because of the wind in our area either early morning and late at night is main time we can use it, but I wouldn't trade it for anything. Any of our guest that come out and have a chance to use it say its the best shower they've had. Thanks so much for all your ideas! I cannot wait to see what you do with the tub xD

Idea for your family, create the walls with the earthbags for the shower and the bath tub, but with some sort of glass roof. Maybe find away to you to use some glass bottles for a glass roof. I would love to see each episode that were a little bit longer like over 20 minutes, possibly closer to 30 minutes because this episode was too short.

A suggestion on the bath tub! For the kitchen you did the awesome design with the tree theme, why not do something special with the tub and make it feel like it's a natural spring and have stones decorating the outside. Maybe have the water spout look as though it is it's water streaming out of the rock as a stream.

Garen, Another way to keep your vertical trim pieces from breaking when installing them is make a series of horizontal cuts about 1/2" to 1" apart the whole length of the board, only about half way thru the board which will allow your board to spread a bit when installing it.

Love what your doing with the van :) Hey Garen and Ellie, when I useded dressed-one-side pine boards on an inside wall, I ran the boards thru my table saw to angle the edges. This way the board edges fit behind one another, hiding the wall behind the boards. An alternative to ship lap or tongue and groove, I guess. : ) In addition to that, I stapled tar paper to the wall so that if you could see thru any gaps between the boards, it just looked black. the same way you painted the van walls. Love watching your videos on the van conversion. And beautiful family! :)

If you lay a steel cable, old chain, junky rebar or whatever over water or power lines, they are easy to find with a metal detector. I did this in the camp ground/resort I built. Made finding lines very easy.

I really appreciate seeing how artistic and flexible you all are. I'm such a stickler for straight lines and things that look perfect start to finish, you just dive in and keep working on it until you reach your vision. Such an inspiration and good to see, as I am the parent of an artistic child and the approach/process can be more organic and its a lesson I'm learning.

Love the earth bags. Will you be putting a roof over the tub? I don't know how it is in the desert, but I'm in Maryland, and anything without a roof here gets quickly covered with pollen, leaves, buds, bugs, grass cuttings, all sorts of junk. Not to mention rain and other precipitation. Question for Garen and Ellie: When working with pallets, you cut the nails to quickly break them down. What do you do about the nail heads? Knock 'em out with a nailset, or cut the ends off the boards before use? ETA: Just saw your vid from 2016 explaining where you got your earth bags. Have you made more purchases from the same supplier or are you getting them domestically now?
