I have to admit, serious positive progress is being made, when this series first started, I had overwhelming doubts as you were peeling back the layers of repairs that needed doing to this RR, I am more inclined now to believe that this will eventually be finished with a top notch paint job and be fit for the road again! keep up the good work Vince, you're almost at the finish line!

Another brilliant video, so many people interested in this, you are doing what we all want to do, that's not to be afraid of trying stuff on our own cars. @@JL-of3db The seller (car dealer) drove it back for me so I didn't have to worry about insurance etc. It did at the time have an MOT, but I'm not sure how thorough the test was!!! I think it was on eBay and Autotrader and was at the time the cheapest RR in the country (£3990). I still overpaid for it by around £2.5K 😂 but I wanted a car with lots of faults and it sure did deliver my wish.

To help the windows go up and down get some silicone spray, if you can get a can with a nozzle that has a long tube attached that will make application easier. Lower the windows and spray it in the rubbers seals located in the runners either side of the window. You will be surprised how much this will aid the windows to go up & down as the rubber seals cause a massive amount of friction on the glass.

Your bumper work from the last video looks so good. I like the longer format videos as well. It's all more quality time spent with MMV. Good stuff. Keep it coming! I'd also suggest not to sweat it regarding using LEDs. I'm personally a big fan of them. Small LED bulbs allow you to actually have a usable amount of light, whereas small incandescents don't do a hell of a lot. You can get orange LEDs if its the color tone thats a deciding factor. Go for an LED bulb with a "color temperature" of 3000K for that nice orange-y glow. People are babies about LED light often, and I don't understand it. a small, low powered incandescent bulb barely illuminates an area more than 3 inches away from the bulb. If the point of light bulbs is to create light, (isn't it usually?) LEDs produce more visible light per watt than ANY other lightbulb technology. By far. But people get weird about "new" technology (screw in LEDs were not cost effective when they were introduced) and you'll find all kinds of questions on Google like: "are LEDs dangerous?", "is LED light bad for your eyes?" and "How harmful is LED light?". Sure, bright, white\blue LEDs can make it more difficult to sleep if you're staring at an LED panel, TV, or screen, before you try to sleep.... That doesn't make them dangerous. No more dangerous than any other light bulb tech that has been used in households. Incandescent bulbs mostly emit infrared light, which is useless for human eyes, but great for heat. The only other downside i've ran into with LED bulbs is that they often flicker on camera footage, especially filming in slow motion, and they can interfere with radio signals.

Might be worth investing in a remote central locking kit, very simple to wire in and setup and as you already have the motors you only need the control box and loom really. I fitted one to my Reliant 3 wheeler but had to fit motors, luckily the opening handle inside is just from a Morris Marina and not that bad to setup either. I still have to fit the electric windows kit I bought, got it from a chap who had it in a dusty shelf and is the one used on the BN2 version, be so posh with leccy windows, central locking, part leather seats (Reliant for the 65 model Robin commissioned the coachfitter who do Rolls Royce seats to make 65 sets of leather seats and I fitted a rear set into mine)

A nice way to get the more worn areas of the seats looking fresh is liquid shoe polish. Get a couple of cream shades and test on an area you can’t see. Fills in cracks quite well with a couple of applications if allowed to soak in each time. Then gently buff with a soft cloth.

Hard to believe this is part 40 already! Love watching you learn something about what i do (used to do) everyday! I forget, but is your welder a gas or flux core welder? If your not using gas, and solely flux core wire, make sure the ground/torch leads are correct. It will work much better (cleaner weld and less splater). Most welders that are capable of gas or flux core require the torch wire be switched on the machine depending on if your using gas or not. Thanks for all your great content!

The electric Ariel can put water in the wing if it doesn't have a drain pipe.. My Bentley Turbo R seems fine but I daren't look too closely. 😂. I had to buy a fairly good one because I can't do repairs like you do, it has to go to a garage but luckily, the garage owner who sold the car to me, still takes an interest if I have problems.. My central locking is strange, if I unlock the driver's door, nothing happens but if I lean over and pull the passenger door pin up, the rear doors unlock.. if I lock the boot, all the doors lock.. The car seems to have a mind of it's own when it comes to central locking plus the passenger door won't unlock with the key . I could do with you having a look 😂 I had to have 4 new expensive tyres as well due to sidewall cracks.. I make KZbin videos about my Bentley but mine are about going to places and car meets but they aren't popular like your videos. I'm learning a lot watching your videos.. My Turbo R is an SZ like your Silver Spirit. I think the SZs are the best looking Rolls Royce and Bentleys..

From past experience I wouldn't recommend it. Any rust will continue to spread underneath and moisture can get trapped causing more rust. And because it's opaque you can't see it happening. I've seen other people use something called fluid film.

@@NyaaVikki What I meant was to put some on after it is cleaned up and painted, or like on my car where I am going to replace a section of metal so I would put some on the inside of the wheel well so rocks wont chip it and cause it to rust again. I completely agree that just putting something over the rust will not help.I should have clarify this better in my original comment.

36:14 I was thinking maybe from factory there was a slightly different key (a Valet key) and valet key would only unlock the car and start and not the boot or glove box, and Mercedes also did this in the 80's the valet key was every so slightly different and would only let you lock/unlock the doors and start the car, it wouldn't let you gain access to the glove box or boot. This might a a similar method of that where the owner would put the switch to the key location meaning only the owners key could unlock the boot then lock the glove box so that setting cannot be changed by anyone else, worth a thought.

In old American cars, you needed to use the key to lock the drivers door. Say the driver was bidding the Queen goodbye. If the passenger got out and locked their car door, the drivers door wouldn't lock to avoid keys being locked in the car so you had to use the key to lock the final door, or if you used the key all doors would lock. Also if the driver used his power lock button you had to push the thump button on the outer door and hold it in while closing it for the drivers door to actually stay lock. The added step reminded you to check for your keys, If you didn't hold the button in the door automatically unlocked.
