That would also work great using scotch-bright pads if you make the disks a bit bigger, nice work, hand made always works better than having to buy them. :)

That's a great idea. I've often been frustrated at the cost of buying replacements (for my Dremel) - the scotch-brite pads do a good job but don't last long.

While we are talking about make things, when you use the typical 2" angle grinder sanding disks of any grit, when the edges are worn and don't work anymore, cut them down to 1" disks and they will work like new again. Of course you will need a 1" disk holder, but it works. And I found that cutting them down is so easy on a bench grinder from the back side of them...

i can honestly say that he is one of the VERY FEW youtubers that has NEVER put out a bad or boring video !! This guy could most likely make a video of him sweeping up or cleaning his shop and make it look awesome ...

Nothing like starting with a 13 mm rod and turning it into a 3 mm screw! I'm always amazed at the talent in these videos. Wish I had that array of machines.

@@Quwoll Indeed. I use a Dremel a lot for armory in the sport of fencing, and changing the wheels out is a pain sometimes.

Very nice. I assume you could use a nut if you don't have a lathe. Less clamping area in the Dremel Chuck but there is no torque on it so...?

Just came across this, nice video. For those of us without a metal lathe, I would think we could do something similar with a hex or lag bolt, as long as it is balanced.

My cheapo rotary tool came with one and the little pads. This is like planting wheat to make croutons for your salad.

The tool usually is cutting before the center of the part, there i cut it behind the center

It was so that he could use the side of the platter to chamfer the end instead of turning the compound rest at that angle and use the tip of the platter. Definitely faster than having to reallign the compound rest (wich can be quite a pain in the neck) afterwards. He's a clever one. :)

No, not at all. Just a waste of time and unnecessary, it's like shaving your beard before going to the barber shop.

Shyam Devadas a channel by the name of Wood by Wright has done this, he mixed chromium oxide powder with beeswax in a mold and let it cure into sticks
