@rodney evans. My first car was a forest green 1969 2dr hardtop with a black vinyl roof. Certainly not the most trouble free car I ever owned...bit gosh I loved that green luxury liner boat like only a teenaged boy could. I bet your convertible was beautiful. Nice times but things things will always change. Some for the better and some changes I don't care for. But change they do...no matter what.

What really sucks is to grow up seeing such beautiful & elegant automobiles, only to now get old enough to afford one, yet nothing is worth buying.

Drove my fathers around on week ends when I was 16 - he didn’t trade it and now I realize why ( so I would have a car to drive 🥲) my best friend and I would take it out and she named it the “ the mean, green, lean machine” or “ leaner”! We had to wiggle some wires under the hood to get it started every time it conked on us. Those were the days!

This car was assembled by Chrysler Australia. It was marketed here though as a Dodge Pheonix.

Good looking car. The ignition location on the left side of the steering wheel is different. Ford offered that on several models over the years. I guess the column mounted locking ignition switch would debut on the 1970 models. Also Chrysler Corp kept the vent windows on several models after GM and Ford started to phase them out in 1969.

lasuvidaboy GM introduced the steering column mounted ignition lock a year earlier than mandated by the Feds for the 1969 model year. Chrysler, Ford, and AMC followed suit in 1970 when required to. I remember this because my grandfather had a 69 Chevy Bel-Air, and my father had a 69 Dodge Polara, which also had the ignition switch on the left side.

They kind of missed 1 engine option, the Interceptor 440 w/4 bbl carb rated(according to the data plate) at 445 bhp. Came with a speedometer certified to 160 mph(I only got mine up 139.4(Speedgun 2 radar clock) before I backed off) and full pursuit package. Possibly the best unit I was ever assigned. Wish it was in my garage now....sigh.

ShastaPacificRoad From all the factory info I've ever seen the 440 engine used in C-Body Police Cars was the same 375 Horsepower 440 "Super Commando" (Magnum in Dodges) used in performance models like the GTX and R/T models at Dodge. I believe #445 was a manufacturing code, not the horsepower rating. Even the 426 Hemi was "only" rated at 425 horsepower, and the 440-6V (440 Six-Pack over at Dodge) was "only" rated at 390 horsepower.

Kenneth Southard I owned a slant-six powered D100 with manual steering and manual discs about thirty years ago, and I currently own a 1972 Ford F100 with the 240 inline six, three on the tree, and manual brakes and steering, so yes I can imagine it.

@@kennethsouthard6042 I’m only two years older than you, and I’ve owned two three-on-the-tree vehicles. The F-100 I mentioned, and a 74 Dodge Dart Swinger w/ Slant-Six, manual steering and brakes, but it had add-on AC. The D100 did have an automatic.

A really nice looking car. Especially the convertible. I find it amazing that automakers didn’t build cup holders until many years later.

This car was not really all that heavy, about 3400-3500 lbs with the slant six. The 1976 Buick LeSabre came equipped with a V-6 rated at 105 hp and weighed about 4200-4300 lbs.
