My parents had a 1966 Chrysler Town and Country with and 440 cubic inch engine with 4 barrel carb. It had the wood like side panels and was loaded with all of the works. My mother loved that car and she still smiles every time she sees one.

My family had a 1968 Chrysler New Yorker Town&Country Beach Wagon that was a beautiful wagon! As well build and h d as any half ton Truck built today. Me dad had special ordered from a good friend who owned a Chrysler dealership in Cumberland R.I. Dad ordered it loaded! 440 Commando 4brl Dual Exhaust 375 hp on the huge air cleaner, with Chrysler Air-Temp Automatic Climate Control, PW/PL factory tow package that came with 3:55 Limited slip! Tow hitch and transmission cooler! That was an amazing car I drove for 10 years after I got my license, then Car Home from the Army. That car was a great hyw Cruiser and towed my dads 5,900 wooded boat with ease. I fondly remember that Car.

John Lennon drove a Chrysler Town and Country from '72 to his death in 1980 He rode on it OVER the Mercedes SEL he bought in '78 Sadly not even the beatles fan apreciated it and it sold little over 5k in the 2000s The Mercedes, despite he rode a lot less in it, was sold for almost half a millon. Lennon was right, money isn't everything.

My parents had a 1965 Chrysler Town and Country. My mom still says it was the greatest car they ever owned.
@727100bear7 жыл бұрын
was it a Newport or New Yorker? ‘65 was the last year the New Yorker T&C was produced - I was then part of the Newport line up until 1969 when Town & Country became a separate series

First Petula Clark's "Sign Of The Times" becomes "The Radial Age" selling tires, now Spanky And Our Gang for selling station wagons?
@mthivier5 жыл бұрын
Petula also did a jingle that was a reworking of the Sonny and Cher hit "The Beat Goes On".

When I was 8 our family had a 70 Custom Suburban and a 65 Impala 2 door hardtop. In 78 I inherited the Impala, which was a rusty mess by then. Bondo-ed the heck out of it and drove it to HS. Thankfully I didn't have to inherit the wagon I guess...

Too bad they rusted so bad on top of front fenders so badly. And that their vinyl seats tore after just a couple of months. Otherwise they were well thought out.

It's Petula Clark singing a plymouth jingle to the tune of "Sundays Will Never Be the Same". Plymouth sponsored Petula's 1968 TV special, and she became Plymouth's spokes-singer for a couple of years after that.

At 3:12, they talk about the wind deflector that Chrysler & Plymouth have for there wagons, then they show a Ford wagon with no wind deflector, but the Ford they show is not a 1969, for had they used a 1969 Ford wagon, it would of shown it with a wind deflector .
@727100bear7 жыл бұрын
actually the Ford wagon that’s shown in that video does have wind deflectors - they’re located on each side of the tailgate window and we’re supposed to force air over the rear window - not sure how well that kept the window clean - these deflectors were standard equipment on all full sized Ford wagons from 1965 through 1968
