the general consensus on the lore is that there are ancient civilization*S*, plural, not one great continent spanning empire. many different people with different cultures who lived at different times. The stuff about such things as the ancient dragon war is a remnant from before MH1, back when it was going to be a fantasy game with spell-casting.

God, oceaniz is legitimately one of the best story tellers I have ever seen. Even if you're not that interested in monster hunter or its lore, I fully recommend checking out his channel. Some of his videos are genuine masterpieces and among my favorite youtube videos ever.

I’m extremely cautiously optimistic about this game. On the one hand I started my Monster Hunter journey on handheld with MH4U and would love revisit that way of playing, but on the other hand it’s well… a mobile game, and most mobile games are F2P which means aggressive micro transactions and oversimplified gameplay mechanics.

Knowing Tencent and Timi, Outlanders is likely going to be non-canon like how MH Online was. Still, I really like the art-style and what was shown so far looks super fascinating.

Cause personalized characters are always better than premade heros imo...the only game that did the premade hero thing right was tower of fantasy as you could choose to play the hero or your personal character...

This is the most uninterested i've ever been in a monster hunter project. It's basically an assetflip from everything we've been shown, the open world is just a distance to be traversed. It'll end up like genshin impact where people mainly play characters that can traverse quickly because the open world is actively frustrating to move around in. Monster hunter simply isn't suited for open world. And a cheap hastily produced mobile game like this is certainly not the game to do anything interesting with the concept even without considering the shaky foundations of MH in an open world. The art direction is also just some of the least interesting in the series too imo. It's like the worst that chinese mobile games has to offer in terms of generic character designs where characters have thigh gaps so wide you could stick your arm through it even when they cross their legs.
